Why do non Muslims (most) try to interprete Islam the way they like. They dont have knowledge of Islam, yet they try to translate it and make accusations.

Like wise for the Qur'an, just because some of you get a verse from a bad source, you tend to stick to it, although it may not exist.
In addition to that, you only choose the verse you want to and get it out of context.
.... and interprete it the way you want. Thats not right. Even Muslims dont interprete the Quran by their own whims.

Why dont you try researching first before making an accusation?

For instance, killing infidels........ its not true. Muslims cannot harm anyoe for no reason, but they have the right to defend. And I beleive thats the same for all relgion......... DEFEND, not attack.

So if some muslim kills an innocent, he (muslim) is going to hell.
If a muslim commits suicide, he or she is going to hell. There is nothing about Virgins.

So Why do some of you do this?????????

Vayu, by all means, read the Qur'an but dont interprete it they way you want. The the problem right there.
Non muslims inteprete it their own way and get the wrong message. Read my question...... where do you think all the misunderstanding comes from???
By the way, women in Islam, have a very very high status
- Christians and Jews will go to heaven. Muslims are not allowed to kill "Infidels" unless the infidels are attacking them and about to kill them.

Now if someone misinterpetes the Qur'an, yo can cant really blame the Qur'an, can you?

We do have fun responding to each other.... but we can never really reach on one agreeable ground.

Anyways, you are mistaken, I have never come across a verse or saying that tell a muslim to be offensive. Never.

As for the other "Jihad" that you are referring to, doesnt quite fit into your reasoning and I will tell you why.

Just because a spiritual leader talks about Jihad doesnt mean he is talking about War and killing. It ends up in how the people interprete it. The leader tries best to explain it, but then, the final interpretation is by the follower, maybe right or maybe wrong.

For the extremists, its always war, and thats wrong.
For most followers, its just a spiritual struggle in their daily lives. Simple.

But also keep in mind, there can be more than one leader, one who is FOR war, and one who is against.
Most of them I know, are against war. Most, but ther are always exception.

Cheap laborors are found in many countries, but NOT in Islam. :)
Like I said, in Islam, a woman has an extremely high status and cannot be forced to work. Its forbidden.
Now what you may see or hear in the media may not be Islamic. It can however be politics and oppression, but not Islamic.

As for the polytheist infidels, nothing happens to them. Like in all religion, the unbelievers will go to hell. Except for Islam, where it says that christians and jews will go to heaven, I dont know what kind, but I do know they will go there.

What I find intresting about you, is that you refuse to accept that the Qur'an is misinterpreted by many muslims, especially when it comes to Jihad.
Just because the prophet went to war when he was attacked, doesnt mean we have to go to war.
Times change, and so do we. If we can avoid war, than its obligatory, but if muslims (good muslims) are attacked, that Defence is obligatory.

Finally, Waging war on Infidels is based on YOUR interpretation, NOT on how it was supposed to be interpreted.

Because it's easy to do... And you have to admit, both sides are guilty of this. How many times have we seen certain Muslims complain about Americans, yet call them all Christians and say "How Christ-Like", yet really have no idea how many of the Christians interpret their own religion.
This is one battle neither side is going to win and the battle will never end, because no one has the nerve to actually say "we could be wrong".

Well, the problem is the Koran.

I have read it, many times over. I was raised in England, as a muslim. From birth . As I grew older, mostly in my teens, and I could understand the Koran better, and started asking sincere questions, I was shunned. Insulted for even asking. Was told I have no faith, and they would question me. Well, that only happened two or three times before I figured out that it wasnt me. They didnt know how to answer, or didnt want me to know the answer. Alot of the questions I had then was regarding Jesus and his life.

It struck me odd, that they would say stay away from the bible, dont even read it, but yet they would use it as refference in regards to Jesus and his life.

As I started into college, it was like a light turning on. As me and some christian friends had friendly discussions about the Koran, Torah, and Gospels, it was quite clear that the Koran contradicted almost eveything in the Torah and Gospels.

I just dont think God would give us 2 books ( Torah and Gospel), allow them to be corrupted, but then bring the Koran and it remain untainted. Which I know for a FACT it has been changed, I have seen the Koran in the British museum, and there are at least 3 surahs that are nowhere close to the Koran of today.

So, my feeling toward Islam and the Koran arent "uneducated". Quite the opposite.

You have got to read the Koran for yourself and not under the influence of Islamic people. They use psychological tactics against you when you start asking questions. Take some psychology courses, learn a little bit about human nature, its so obvious its quite humurous when you see people pleading out for Islam. "We dont teach this" remarks. That depends on who you are learning from.

Zoon-Nun,

Why not instead of telling us how you define true and false Islam not invite people to just read the Koran in the peace and Quiet of their living room with a critical mind and discover for themselves

1) what is written about women
2) what its says about Jews, Christians and polytheists

3) Jihad and if it is war or not against the infidels.

Then maybe your statement would have more credence.

Many many ex-Muslim left the faith onced they read the Koran with awareness.

Zoon_Nun,

If women have a high rankng status - That is not EQUALITY Cheap laborers may also have some special status in many countries.

Regarding the heaven you mention for Chrisitans and Jews: YOu forgot to mention the over 2 billion people on earth that Islam considers as "Polytheists" (Animist, Buddhists and Hindus). As for those who truly seek the deeper side of their faith in Judaism and Christianity, the goal is not the "Muslim Heaven" but the one discribed on their very own scriptures.

Regarding your point of Self Defense: First it is not what is SAID that counts, but REALITY So here are some historical Facts:
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=4649

KILLING THE INFIDEL IN THE KORAN:
Regarding ATTACKING the infidels.... Reread YOUR Koran and make sure you have gone through it, now since you seem to need some indication, here is a list of verses in the Koran alone, and we are not going to go through what all other Islamis Schools in the world are teaching about JIHAD.

Start by a simple random pic of some of the verses.... the Koran cannot be read in a linear fashion like most reference books which could explain your own confusion....

JIHAD is War and a duty to all Muslims and not all of these verses teach about Self Defense some (and again - REGARDLESS OF the Edition or translation) Teach of the duty of waging war against the Infidel... And especially in the Later lifetime of Mohammed.

The Koran’s 164 Jihad Verses:

K 002:178-179, 190-191, 193-194, 216-218, 244; 003:121-126, 140-143, 146, 152-158, 165-167,169, 172-173, 195; 004:071-072, 074-077, 084, 089-091, 094-095,100-104; 005:033, 035, 082; 008:001, 005, 007, 009-010, 012, 015-017, 039-048,057-060, 065-075; 009:005, 012-014, 016, 019-020, 024-026, 029,036, 038-039, 041, 044, 052, 073, 081, 083,086, 088, 092, 111, 120, 122-123; 016:110; 022:039, 058, 078; 024:053, 055; 025:052; 029:006, 069; 033:015, 018, 020, 023, 025-027, 050; 042:039; 047:004, 020, 035; 048:015-024; 049:015; 059:002, 005-008, 014; 060:009; 061:004, 011, 013; 063:004; 064:014; 066:009; 073:020; 076:008

Remember 3/4 of Muslims in the world do not speak arab....

Now i am sure you will find many many instances in these verses where not only Self Defense BUT ALSO OFFENSIVE JIHAD is blatantly addressed...

Zoon_nun, I am not saying YOU are violent, I am just saying that you seem to deny the references in the book used by the Muslims that are Violent... And maybe you willingly avoided to mentioned in your response, about what happens to the "polytheist infidels" ? But I will go of that one, as we usually have fun responding to each other ;-) Ciao !

Historical Data has many proofs that Muhhamad Did many things against what he preached (killed many people in mecca , converted many people under the sword, destroyed many Beautiful civilizations because he thought he was right )
Another important Fact a civilization has to change with time (many muslims in afghanistan pakistan Do not accept changes like modernization Because it is anti islam ) so the religion does not allow them change

It's not like we're the only ones who do it. Some Muslims do the same for Christianity and think that we are all right-wing bible thumpers. I think the vast majority of people, on both sides, look at things more realisitically. Even religion has their zealots, but its important to know that this is not how the average person acts.

my friend dont get so upset about it all,try to understand that in general people only hear about islam in the media connected to the actions of fundamentalist extemists so naturally think that islam means terrorists- as a percentage of the islamic people the the terrorists are minute in number and the vast majority of muslims know they are an evil representation of the beliefs and teachings of islam-but they are not taught that by the media-if a christian blows something up the question of his religion is never even brought up because its not them that are being pillorised by press indoctrination its you.POLITICS!.X

The Qur'an, like other religious scriptures, can be used to support a wide variety of behaviors. Much like the Bible, there are passages that seem to contradict each other. It would not be difficult at all to support a life of peace or one of violence using the teachings of the Qur'an.

i am sorry if you think that way but we as non beleivers have also studied the Qur'an and the Bible we find it unsettling that people follow such a horrible god in any aspect of it. people have a brain and tend to transelate it as it is seen to be. like we dont know not to read it as it is meant to be read but we read it with a open mind and a freewill complexity. if you want to worship that god then fine but we as normal smart people we will continue to see that the Quran and the Bible promote terrism and hate.
