Hi, I dyed my hair with permanent dye, the color I used was "Darkest Natural Brown", it came out jet black. I didn't realize that my hair was porous to begin with, and it just soaked it up. I used this Color Oops stuff on it a day afterwards and it seemed to lift it a bit, but it's still blackish. A girl at Sally Beauty told me to mix some Volume 40 developer with my shampoo and that should fade it a bit, but it's just that I want my hair a pretty dark brown (Think Mila Kunis from That 70s show), not this nasty black/brown color, does anyone have any honest advice? Please don't say go to a professional, if I wanted a professional's advice, I wouldn't be here, I'm just looking for ideas I could do myself to save some moolah, thanks :)

it all depends on your hair. some peoples hair will lift color very easily and for others is almost impossible. here's my advice for you...wait it out for atleast two weeks and see what happens with the color. when you dye your hair it is always going to fade at least a little so just wait and see what the color is like and then go from there. also, if its really important that your hair is the color you want it now just go to a stylist and they can fix it for you no problem.

My hair is very pourous as well and it always soaks up the dye and comes out several shades darker than I wanted. My hairdresser friend gave me tip that works for me. Put some conditioner in your hair where it seems to soak up the most dye like the ends of your hair or the bottom half of your hair and apply the dye over it. It does come out lighter and more even. I do find though that it does fade faster and you have to touch it up a couple of weeks earlier but at least the colour is even and closer to what you wanted. For extreme colour changes on dark hair first use blondissma which strips your hair of colour ( it looks scarey...your hair turns white or orange) and then apply your new lighter colour over that. Works great but is hard on your hair with repeated use. Hope this helps. P.S. I find that using a medium blond colour gives me my desired dark brown result.,when I use regular dye in my hair.

Try a lighter shade. Semi-permanent color. Listen, some poeple's hair must be bleached before it can grab the color they desire. I went to Beauty school and it really just depends on the coarseness, and how porous your hair is. Make sure the hair is well conditioned before you color and very well conditioned after. Hope this helps!! (And as for "fading" your hair, I don't think that's the look you want from your description. Fading is for already color-treated hair.)

Hello,

It isn't hard, i'll use to work for a salon, you can have it specially made, instead of getting the one from the counter because of the chemical it uses and also the damage it can do to your hair.

If you got a hair product from a shop like Sally's ..well dying a hair from a shop can only go so far, it goes to your natural hair colour, i mean it blends in to match your natural hair colour.

After you finish with dying your hair remember purchase a good hair conditioner and also colooured hair shampoo.

Well, you'll probably need to restart with a light brown color to get your hair into that color instead of black. Then wait a day to dye your hair a darker brown.

GOOD LUCK!!!!
