Some kind of amplification software for instance. My volumes are all at full capacity and still when i play some movies its pretty quiet.

Sadly, there are no programs as such to do your job, unless it is part of the driver. Try using Control Panel to find the sound card settings (possibly under System, Device Manager). You might find a setting, but I doubt it.

This tends to be because a laptop's speakers aren't very big anyway. Space inside the laptop and power it uses from the battery prevent it being too good.

The best option is to buy plug-in speakers or use headphones. If you buy plug-in speakers, be sure to get mains powered or the quality won't be much better.

i sympathise-the whole point of buying a laptop is portability!I hav had to buy speakers cos when watching films its infuriatingly quiet! We hav had some randomn luck when watching downloaded video files, i think its just simply that some files end up louder than others :-(

buy a speaker system that has a sub woofer, and at least 2 speakers, you wont be sorryalso use head phones, but spend £50 on speakers, the sub woofer has a built in amp you wont be sorry....
