It use to be a thought of mine but then I read in the Bible that some things we will never comprehend on earth in our sinful state, some things will seem like foolishness when it comes to God. however, he reveals himself and character through his son Jesus and through is creations. We cannot comprehend eternity with our finite minds it would drive us mad - the promise is sure though that we will not die in heaven and it will be blissful and happy. Our duty here is not to explain what we have no knowlege of but what is revealed to us through the written word the Bible. All questions will be answered in heaven, just follow the Bible.

How can you speak about how long, if you speaking of eternity. Eternity has no beginning or ending. I too have thought very deep on it since in Islam we believe Allah has no beginning nor end. At last I understood it is possible. According to Democratis, he said, atom cannot be created nor destroyable. And according to Einstien, energy cannot be created nor destroyable. It can only be convertible. If so energy is eternal. Got it? Can you think of the beginning of energy or end of energy then. In Islam, we believe Allah is the all power, so with him all these energies. The beginning and end, or life and death are concepts created by the All-power in this world, before creation of life and death there was not such a concept. Before creation of universe, there was not something call, matter or time. For example, can you think of time if there is no relative motion in the universe. Got me? if there is no relative motion in this world we cannot describe what is time. I know this is a very crude concept to understand, but think deeply...
Thanks for asking a good question...

You know why it's maddening? Because it seems you are alone, the only one questioning such things. (Intelligent people are far and few between these days).
Everyone else is claiming that, as mere mortal human beings, they understand it all. They don't, they couldn't possibly even to begin to comprehend such "Divine" matters of the existence of this thing called the law of time and space, the universe, the afterlife...
We aren't supposed to understand this stuff. We weren't meant to. It's not necessary. We will find out (or "remember") when we "die" and move on to the spiritual plane/afterlife (aka heaven).

First i'd pick to say there are not any days in hell. those that are absolute to hell received't journey day and evening. there is not any time or calendar there. a million) Do you've a concept of ways lengthy Eternity is (in words of never-ending time, no longer the physics)? definite I easily have a good information what Eternity is. 2) Do you're taking hell heavily (in case you're a Christian)? definite I take damnation very heavily same to I take my walk with Christ heavily. 3) (If respond to 2 became definite) Do you locate it that complicated to conquer your "sinful nature" for one lifetime to guide away from this destiny? we are able to in no way conquer our sinful nature see you later as we are human beings. It takes a lot fasting and prayer to position the fleshly needs less than subjection. Dieing the flesh on a daily basis is critical and a ought to!

It is beyond human comprehension because time is linear to us. Picture a perfect circle, if it is drawn right, you can't see where it begins or ends. Or, time...it continues, and we don't know if it had a beginning or not, but we enjoy existing in it. Yes, it is an awesome thought. Even more awesome is that we can communicate with him in prayer and he listens! Also, that we can affect his feelings!

I try not to think about it - it's too big, the concept of time.
The only thing I can think of is that time continues to run in two directions - forward AND backward.
But I don't know... When I meet God I'll ask Him about it.

The universe(s) is eternal and infinite. That is why humans invented Gods in the first place, We cannot comprehend either.
"God did it" is much easier to understand and comprehend than "I don't know."

You're not alone in this. This is truly something mind boggling that man cannot understand. Thank goodness we don't HAVE to understand it, haha!

hold your hands together: palm to palm
let your left hand represent the past
and right hand the future
between them is the present
now: open up your hands wide and spread your arms as if if diving in....this is a sampling of eternity
be here now

I believe that God always existed and that He created time so that our pitiful little minds could understand our existence!
