Why? Because I want to. Because that's how I'd categorize my beliefs, since nobody seems to be satisfied until we categorize what we believe) Because I love mythology & ancient history & culture, including religious practices.

I've thought of Rhiannon, Vivienne, Sophia...

And, of course I mean a normal name. You'd be surprised how many normal names are taken from ancient & pagan mythology. (For example, the currently common name of Morgan)

It seems every Pagan chick out there wants to call herself Rhiannon, Raven, or Morgan (or some other Morrighan inspired variation like Morganna, Morgaine, etc). Selene and Amber are pretty common as well. Unless you'd like your daughter to have a very common Pagan name, I'd avoid these.

I'm of the thought that the best Pagan name is one that has Pagan origins but isn't immediately recognizable as such by the general public. Greek mythology has some good ones. Here are a few nice names...

THALIA was the muse of comedy. One of Aphrodite's graces was also named Thalia.

PENELOPE was Odysseus' wife.

CLEO was the muse of history.

DAPHNE was a woman Apollon fell in love with, whom he turned into a laurel tree when she didn't return his affections.

HELEN is famous, of course, from the Trojan War.

I would just look into names from mythologies. I guess you could say my kids' middle names are Pagan. I chose the names because I'm Irish and I wanted to add some of that flavor to their names. My son is Sebastian Morgan. My daughter is Charlotte Rowan.

Depends on what your preference is. I like Celtic names, if you do try Baby Name Box. Look under Celtic or Welsh.

I posted my database of pagan names for you on my website. It's in Excel format, you can download it. It's pretty rough, but there's about 1000 options to choose from.

Good grief, give the kid a NORMAL name so it won't be embarrassed when it's older and have to explain to everyone why it was named Ravenwing Angelfire or whatever. ¬_¬
