If you had a strong belief in something, and had an opportunity to espouse your view to potentially millions of people, and do so anonymously, wouldn't you speak your mind as loudly as possible? Wouldn't you want everyone to join your club?
What if you were a salesman, and wanted to get word out about your product as fast as you can, with no cost? This is a perfect forum to do so.
You have to understand that not everyone on Yahoo is religious, or Christian for that matter. Religion is just a "hot topic". The fact that Yahoo Answers allows everyone to remain anonymous doesn't help keep the rude or insensitive comments to a minimum. If you notice, there are religious questions where the same avatars pop up time and again.
I think it's funny that even those who aren't religious are wasting the same amount of time to argue with those who are.

I don't know if the people here are more religious but they tend to be more outspoken than those of the general population. This is just a common tendency for the Internet. Most people are more moderate and don't have the energy to make many posts on a random Internet site. Those with more energy and more fervor will post all the time, hence the generalization that more extreme people are on the Internet.
It's the same thing with politics also. Tons of extreme left and right people in that category.

Missionaries will show up in any forum where they think they can spread the word and gain potential converts. That's just the way it is.
Otherwise, it IS a "religion and spirituality" forum, so people who are lukewarm about religion and spirituality probably don't spend a whole lot of time here. You'll have people who are interested in religion (whether they are religious or not).

that is because so many people have questions about religion that they can ask anonymously on line here
and Christians have been told in the bible to 'go and make disciples of all nations' and so hence are 'trying' to 'convert' people on line too

There many other sites. Why are you interested in this one?It is a place to share spiritual beliefs. Do you want to make religion and spirituality a "no fly zone?" No one can force another person to make a choice they don't want to make. The issue of gay and bisexuality is also freely discussed. And I do believe that gays are given the freedom to discuss their point of view. This is a gutsy, innovative sight. I like it a lot because spirituality is important to me.

I'm a christian but believe it is wrong to try to force my beliefs and opinions on anyone. For this reason I try to give my opinions and say that in my opinion its fine for others to have a different opinion to me! I would never try to convert someone.

I want to show people that God is really there. I'm not trying to convert people because I know that they will need more evidence.
