Not preaching atheism. Just cuz ONE atheist is, does not mean all atheists are. I mainly ask and read questions/answers to get answers.

Most atheists that I know do not want you to take what I we say at face value. In fact if you believed everything I said without critically thinking about it that would be simply be replacing one brainwashing with another. Atheism is all about thinking for yourself and developing the practice of thinking critically.
Preaching is a monologue not a dialog, so by definition questions are never preaching. Questions have two purposes, to get an answer or to encourage the thought process. The only question I posted here about a religious question was an attempt to get people to think for themselves. If people would think for themselves and not just regurgitate their brainwashing, there would be a lot more atheists.

Salient said word for word what I wanted to say. I ask questions in the hopes that someone will actually think for themselves and take a look at things they have been brainwashed to think and actually critically take a look at it and decide for themselves if it really makes sense or not. The way most theists go about religion is rediculous. They say "The bible says so so it must be true." Well, let's say the bible said that Jesus met Chuck Norris on the road to Nazareth. Would that make it true? No. Just because something is written down does not make it true. Not to mention the Bible is one of THE worst possible sources you can find to validate information. We don't know the exact author of various parts of the book so we have no way of validating if the source is a crackpot moron or someone who was respected at the time. Not to mention the fact that it is 2000 years old. Play the telephone game for 5 minutes with 20 of your friends and see what happens to the original statement.

The questions I usually ask are the same questions I asked myself as a Christian and why, in small part, I became an atheist.
I'm nearly 60 years old, have no fear of death or an "afterlife," and am seeking nothing other than to enlighten others. Especially those who do not really believe the bible myths but are afraid to admit they do not.
I ignore comments that include "the bible says," and I ignore them because the bible says whatever a person claims it says. There are over 10,000 unique Christian cults in the US alone, all claiming the bible supports their version of "Christianity."

They are so miserable in life, they come here to hate, hurt, lie, belittle, degrade, others. why? the old saying goes. Misery loves company.
they want to upset the applecart and make others feel what they live on a daily basis.
read they're comments. Not in just in this question. but every question.
Hate. that's is they're way of life. they are losers. they will only take a good person down. why a Christian would even give then the time of day, is beyond me. read what God says, about avoiding and keeping away from them. I see these Internet Christians flogging right to them. To each his own.

Many of them may be young and still trying to find out who they are. I doubt they would preach atheism, as it is not very fun, but it's possible they may want more people to be atheists so they will not feel so alone. Many of them just want tolerance, they want people to get off their high horse and to stop treating them as though they are inferior, as a good person would do.

I am preaching. Simple as that. I'm on a crusade to get religion out of American politics. If I can accomplish that, through whatever means, you can sit and pray to your heart's content for the rest of your life and I will leave you in peace.
But right now, I just want to educate and enlighten as many religious people as I can, in the hope that I can speed the process of getting this medieval mindset out of our lives.

a serious educated atheist will not pick a fight in this kind of arena. they'd rather debate the highly eduacate christian philosophers like william craig. most atheists you meet here are just the armchair-type atheists with no philosophy background, just read stuff from the net, or are just probably having a hard time understanding what life is. im no atheist, just a skeptic agnostic. have a nice day

a little bit of both....You continue to preach and spread the word of God as you know best. Maybe one or 2 of the un-believers/atheits will continue to ask questions (sincerely) and find God in your words.

Atheists ask questions on here because it is like throwing seeds to pigeons .. all the theists start flocking about and squawking and jumping about .. it is just absolutely hilarious. Since it is very politically incorrect to laugh at and tease retarded people you guys are the next best thing.
