I own a lassie dog.

My partner once wrote to the really wild show (an uk tv programme) to ask this question and they could not answer it. ....he of course denys this now!!

possibly....it depends on how old your lassie is though...my friend and I lived in the woods and there was always wildlife on our driveways like opposums, bear cubs, foxes, and of course wolves. Well where she lived there were more wolves than where I lived and her dogs were often heard at night fighting of the wolves and chasing them....most of the time the dogs (german shepard) caught the wolves

A wolf can run about 60km/hr (36mph). This is very fast for a dog. Only Greyhounds or Whippets can generally run that fast or faster. So it is very unlikely that your Collie can out run a wolf.

Even if your dog can out-run a wolf, keep in mind wolves usually hunt in packs, so if you pet is a target of the pack, chances are it will not make it.
