Yes, I did know this, and I do this. I check up on my "representatives" (not that they actually represent) and I let them know when I am not happy with them, what way I want them to vote on upcoming issues, and I make sure they are well aware that their job hangs on their choices.

I used this site to look up who my Rep in the House was (no luck, it was Berman.) However, I send emails via their 'contact me' links on their own web pages. I think they discount to some extent email through a 'partisan' server. They shouldn't and maybe I am wrong, but I send email independently.

I am so glad to see another person doing that. I swear by the way people vote I doubt if any of them even know what issues and bills are being passed. I too appreciate you passing the info on to others. I do it myself on other message boards. I`ve been getting mine for a little over a year now.
