I'm sure the US Military & its counterpart military allies are all aware Iraq is a conflict they can never win. The same as Vietnam. However, the military is subservient to its Gov'ts. It obeys orders and carries them out. Years from now when the Iraq veterans gather to rember the period and those lost maybe our politicians will have learnt to tread more carefully. Equally, if such a conflict is to be entered into again, do it with mercenaries and volunteers and allow them to set the rules and support them to the hilt & clamp down the media press. They M&V's will settle it in no time. As for the media press, its impossible to know whose damned side there on. They file every piece of dirt they can against our own men, totally forgetting what were up against, what were fighting. Were fighting Islam extremists. they dont have rules or values as we do. Our press and politicians will not sit down and take a deep hard look at whats involved. Its time to pull out and let dog eat dog.

Liberal, hippie, stoner; Vietnam is over. Time to catch up with the rest of the world. Wait for your latest residual acid rush to pass and then lets try and think.
This war is in no way similar to Vietnam. We are beating the insurgents. We are arming and training the Iraqi military.
Also, the US Military did not lose the Vietnam war (they won every battle that was joined). The US lost the Vietnam war because you and your stinky friends convinced the slacker politicians to give up.
The US can lose the war in Iraq, and for the same reason. As long as you weak willed, cry-baby, self centered narcissists are desperate to quit, we do have the possibility of losing this war. But the US Military will not lose. Every time an insurgent has tried to fight (not just a remotely detonated bomb) he has gone to meet Allah.

The U.S. is attaining it truly is objectives, although the objectives are some distance longer than people concept. Iraq will probable be fastened formerly New Orleans. the militia will probable be there for 18 extra months. The Iraqi militia and police are boost and that's the entire key. The insugence has moved off attacking police stations and militia camps and function been decreased to struggling with in 3 or so cities in a rustic the scale of California.

There's alot of rhetoric, and simplified wishful suppositions here. "after the elections, the president will" or "puppet government" "today the troops got a butt beating" tomorrow, " etc. Where's your proof? Details? Rationale? If you're talkin about the death of Zarqawi, then you're mistaken. He was an organizing and galvanizing force for the insurgents in Iraq. The "resistance" fighters there, are made up of nationals from all over the world, and are for the most part simple degenerates who want to fight. Iraq being a convenient place, they go there. With Zarqawi's influence gone, any violence has lost it's "lodestone" guidance. With us leaving, it remains to be seen whether it'll be in the character of our forces in Vietnam. Constantly referring to it as such don't make it so. (and giving it that flavor in the media will make it more likely that our leaders will keep us there, in order to prevent that type of embarrassment to them)
Whether Iraq's government will be a Puppet government also remains to be seen. I personally doubt that it will be. The leaders over there are going to have to retain control. People in their constituency will be clamoring and blaming them for being a puppet if there's any appearance of it being so. The leaders there will be in the position of being independant, or being removed or killed by their citizens. What would you do with that type of motivation?

All I know is that I am powerless over Government decisions, as are you. And if you were any type of American at all, you would support those who are brave enough to be over there serving our Country. Most of which were already inlisted when all of this started. At least they have the Balls to stand up and defend their home, unlike people like you that ask questions with no substance or facts, just running your mouth instead of supporting troops that probably visit this site, if and when they get and time to relax. I'm sure that they would tell you to go back to your history lessons and listen this time......Because there is no comparison between Vietnam and Iraq. If you are gonna insult your country and those who defend it, at least know what the heck you are talking about.

Should this war have happened? No as it is proved that cold war tactics are sometimes the best way to win against an enemy. We also know that this war was waged on lies and deceit by your government (I'm Canadian).
However having said that you are now committed to a cause and I hope that any new elected president will follow through till there is peace in the region. Anything else would mean that many people died for nothing that would be horrible.

The US can't pull out because when it does regimes will be set up again in Afghanistan and Iraq. If we do pull out its a guarantee that the terrorists and their training camps will be back in business. Translating into more 9/11 and London bombing events all over the world. The US and other countries would then be forced to go back because a bunch of civilians would be killed and the public would be all for going back in retaliation of the lives lost. Remember when we first went into Afghanistan, be honest with yourself, were you for or against it then???

What did we accomplish in Vietnam? Nothing! What have we accomplished in Iraq? Well, we've gotten rid of a cruel dictator and his evil sons, assisted Iraq in setting up a democracy, and killed Al-Quaida's number 2 man......All of this with less than a fraction of the deaths experienced in Vietnam.
You should be ashamed of yourself!
