People try to get me to go, but I think church is ridiculous in general.

All church is, is a brainwashing session for those who would rather live their lives as mindless sheep than try and think for themselves. Either they find comfort in being led around, much like a faithful dog who wants to be near their master, or they are too unsure of the world to try and stab out on their own without some kind of "faith cushion" to fall back on.

The teachings of religion in a large part are common sense items that every human being should follow anyways. Don't kill, don't steal, don't kick your neighbor in the nuts.

People shouldn't have to go to church to hear about how great Jesus was all the time. If you don't know it by the time you're 5, you never will. Church is a one-sided interpretation of a book that has more holes in it than swiss cheese.

However, I will agree with the one poster above that said that the songs are nice some times.

Church is not for everyone. And not every church is a religion. Some people never go to church and others on every occasion. Opinions vary. Some feel a need to go. Others like you do not. That does not make either them or you stupid just each has a different opinion and belief. Don't confuse stupidity with ignorance.

Get to know GOD instead, Religion and Churches Are FRAUD, Maybe that's why the Vatican Bank is the 2nd Riches Bank in the world. Meanwhile children die from thirst and Hunger around the world. The CHURCH has also manage to amass Billions In Real Estate Around the Globe

(All religion )was created by the catholic church and the Catholic church was created by Jews....Something is a Miss don't you think ? Just another way to control Man ,Get to Know GOD personally instead. Cut out the Middle man.

Ps I like the bit about the Pope Getting a Job !!! Ignorance is Bliss...Wake up people

I don't think its stupid for people to go to church. I also don't think its stupid NOT to go, either. Faith lies in the heart. Going to church does not make you a Christian (or whatever) just like going into a garage does not make you a car.

Going to church makes some folks happy. I'm all for church, but sometimes the things they say there is not good, like being intolerant to other religions just b/c they are different than yours. I'm not a church-goer by any means, but I think that people have the right to go. I'll even go to church with my mother-in-law from time to time, but I hate it when people try to force what they believe on me. You can always tell the people trying to get you to go that you don't feel like going that day, but maybe soon you would visit with them. Does not mean you have to be there every Sunday. Goodness lies within. Live your life well, that's my advice to you.

Church, as a specific place, is community where you gather with other people to praise God. In general, all Christians consider themselves to be members of the "Church" - capital "C" - of God, or the "Body of Christ." There are some great benefits to joining this Body that your friends probably want to share with you. (Because of lack of space, I won't get in to other religions.) Church is a great place to grow your relationship with God. You have other members who will relate to you their experiences - good and bad - which they use to support each other physically as well as spiritually.

Because a church - small "c" - is a community, you have the chance to make long lasting friendships and participate in church events. Believe me, if you belong, you will be asked to participate.

There is nothing wrong with having your own individual relationship with God. But, God did not put us all here to be alone and reclusive. We are all connected through Him. We are all called together to be a "priestly" people and serve others.

Hope this helps. God bless!

I'm not gonna try and convert you to my religion or anything, but church is important in a lot of ways.
It shows God that you are obedient.
You are able to associate with people of your own beliefs and get positive reinforcment (i know that doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it should)
It allows you to be taught more about your religion. You can't already know everything.

That's what i think. Have a great day! :)

If you are not a believer in Jesus Christ then you would not understand about what people see in church. You need to go if you want to learn more and understand what others are experiencing.

The Bible says that you should not forsake the gathering of the Brethren and Jesus and His disciples went to church as you see the many letters Paul wrote to the churchs. We should gather to help uplift each other and to renew our strength and to share and grow together.

Going to church is simply about appearances. If you have low self-esteem and can only value yourself through someone else eyes (god, and the congregation), go to church and feel valuable. If you are able to value yourself by your own ability to know what is valuable and what is not. You won't feel the need to accept their invitation. Are you drawn to them? I advice some inner examination to find out why.
They need you there for their own personal reasons, not for you welfare, theirs.

If you think it is stupid, you probably won't get much out of it...but it is proven that regular church goers are healthier, happier, and live longer lives... And it doesn't really matter what religion it is either...having a faith and a support system is what matters.
