Tough question. The main thing about rabies is trying to find out if this was what is called a provoked or an unprovoked attack. If you are just sitting on a park bench and a dog or a racoon comes out of no where and aggressively attacks and bites you, this is an unprovoked attack, you definitely need rabies shots. However in this case the kitten was agitated and scared and therefore the bite would be considered provoked. These are much much less likely to have rabies.
Two things to do: 1. Find the kitten and observe it for 10 days. If it stays well and healthy - no rabies and you are done. 2. If the kitten can not be found, go to a local health agency if there is one and find an infectious disease expert and ask about the prevalence of rabies in the town where you are living. Kittens are not a major vector for rabies. Bats are the much more likely to have rabies.
Don't panic. You have plenty of time... at least a month to get the shots if you truly need them! Good luck!

Cats get their first rabies shot at 12 weeks previous, that's a one 12 months vaccine. in a lot of aspects, see you later because the cat receives the subsequent vaccine interior one 12 months, the vaccine will develop right into a 2 or 3 12 months vaccine. in the US, the rabies shot is the in reality one mandated by ability of regulation. The others are stated, yet no longer needed. Kittens receive vaccinations for RCCP (frequently said as the distemper shot) and tom cat Leukemia at 8 weeks and 12 weeks, then each and each year after that. some vets believe that once a cat has had the 8 week, 12 week and one 12 months RCCP, it will be repeated each 3 years. tom cat Leukemia is stated for that bypass outside in reality.

Get the shots! If a health care provider says you need them, you should get them. They will eliminate the chance of you catching rabies. If you do not take the shots, and if the cat was rabid, you are probably going to die. Rabies is 100% fatal if not prevented.

Your ideal solution would have been to take the cat in to be euthanized and tested for rabies, but since that apparently didn't happen, you must get the shots. If I were you I would make the time to get them... no matter what!

Get the shots, don't stop now.

On the plus side after you get all the shots you can play with as many stray kittens you can.
