You can't use anything topical - nails are essentially dead tissue, meaning no blood flow to them directly. This sounds corny, but start with good nutrition and build 'em from the inside out. (Take a multi-vitamin too.) Use a nail hardener polish on them to protect what you have.

Good luck!!

hi jennifer,
there's nothing you should use to make you nails grow. all the products available in the market are deceptive. they don't really work as you might want them to..and if they do, then they're definitely harmful
you've got to understand that your body does what you need best. if your nails are growing slowly, then there's nothing wrong with it. chances are that you might need more calcium...milk...
make sure your nails are strong. avoid biting nails if you ever do, trim you nails regularly in a neat consistent style, because that speeds up your nail growth phenomenally.
nail colour looks pretty, but if you have it on constantly, your nails grow real slow..so allow a nail breathing time of a week while you change colours
remember, always go natural.
dont believe chemicals or even herbal treatments..they're all cheats
eat well, drink plenty of water...i know you've heard this water thing before, but you dont know that we always drink less than what our body needs.
keep your nails trimmed and clean. that'll help best !
take care

The only stuff I've ever used is clear nail polish by Cover Girl Nail Slicks. The point is to keep your nails covered. It's when air gets to them that they dry out and get cracked and chipped. But, any brand of nail polish will do. Just keep your nail covered with polish. Re-do them every week or so.

Nail Tek II. It is kind of pricey and I purchased it from a nail salon. You can't buy this product at your local store. It was about $10 for the bottle but lasts. I also heard that taking fish oil vitamins helps also. Good luck.

A lot of good advice here. Knox geletin will certainly help. Also the bit about the olive oil is true...Olive oil can help build strong fingernails and soften cuticles. Before bed, soak your nails in a mixture of lukewarm olive oil and lemon juice. Put on soft cloth gloves and let the oil penetrate overnight. Your nails will gradually become more resistant to breaking and chipping.

Sally Hansen has a product with aloe in it. Your nails usually grow in 5-7 days. I use it a lot... it seems to work pretty good.

get geletin it's sold at the grocery store near the rest of the jello I think it's. it's got a picture of a hand and finger nails right on the box! you soak your nails in it! and it really works. or if you want you can drink warm jello it has the same effect but more calories...lol... trust me they both work wonders. it's a secret a lady from my church give me when I asked how she got her hair to grow so long and have such strong health nails!
