See if the ignition switch is heating up ;I had a very simmilar problem on a 93 dakota .I left my lights on ,battery was dead when I got out of work 9hrs later, jump started it( start and die, start and die ) charged it for 15 minutes then it stayed running then my ignition switch after a couple of days was getting hot and started to soften the plastic cover on the column (on 93's the key cylinder bolts right into the ignition switch ) I changed the switch and have no more troubles but I also have not left my lights on since .

DODGE [Drive Or Drag Goes Everywhere ]
I have 187,000 miles and rolling on my 93 dakota LE 3.9-v6 with overdrive , I also own a 86 CHRYSLER new yorker with a 2.5 4cyl. It has 119,000 miles and rolling on it ! .
This is a true statement not B.S. to all those DODGE&CHRYSLER (non-enthousiast's ) .
