The Levitical rules where apart of Moses' law which was nailed to the cross with animal sacrifice and other such practices. However, the Ten Commandments God's law still remains today and thus you should find a church that teaches such and practices such which includes the fourth commandment too which is often times overlooked.

Paul does a good job of explaining in Galatians 3 that since Jesus came to earth Christians are no longer under the law (or the rules you refer to in the Old Testament).
Christians do not choose a religion, or sign up for a list of rules to follow. By Faith we choose to believe that God loves us and sent his son to die for us. What Christians do is the result of trying to please God and follow Jesus example.
Many people may call themselves Christians, but without a personal relationship with God, they have probably just "signed up for a religion".

depends on why you'd want to convert. if one is converting to be a member of that social group then i'd say you wouldn't have a good reason. if you were converting because you were convinced of the merits of that system of belief, then it wouldn't matter how the people acted. apart from that, i'm not sure hypocricy is avoidable in life. in the case of christianity the one prerequisite for becoming a christian is that you be screwed up and recognize your need for healing/salving (hence salvation). so then the church is a bunch of screwed up people trying to help each other in the that process of becoming whole. so you will have hypocracy as they try over time to become less and less of a hypocrite...

I may be slow but my translation of the bible verses seems like God is trying to make a fashion statement. He's invovled in homes and gardens. Gay men stand out in fashion and home decor. God is jealous and insecure and knowing that he can't compete thus he lashes out against gays. May be Gods got cards he ain't showing?

Religon is in fact the opiate of the masses. It is the acceptance of myth as fact. It gives its followers the rationale for ethnocentrism which justifies the persecution of people not of their " faith."
What a person does, not what he says defines his/her faith and belief. A close friend told me long ago one of lifes fundamental truths. " If a person is saying one thing and doing another, believe what they are doing."

For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.
Being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.
Hope this answers it for you.
