I can't believe the response! Thank you everyone. I am also wondering if I should paint the trim first then the walls?

My niece recently painted hers an apple green, similar to the answers toolbar! It's a very tiny space, leads into the dining, foyer, breakfast and family rooms which she's done in variations of more traditional colors and decorating themes, so we were a little nervous. It's breathtaking!! She has a large bay window in the nook, so to start a theme, she purchased readymade swags in green, gold, turquoise, red, orange and off white. The window over her sink has a deep cornice so any window treatment would be lost to view, so instead, it became her "happy place. She had alot of pieces of dishes in yellows, robins egg blue, turquoise, yellow and red from pier I which are displayed on the wall. A cabinet built for storage under the bay window was painted green and holds a lamp (with shade to match the window treatment) at one end and a large turquoise bowl filled with apples on the other end. Her counters were cleaned off and bright accessory pieces were displayed that will actually be used. A basket filled with various colored towels and hot pads completes the look. She even found a circa 1970 framed painting of poppies in the various reds and oranges that really makes the room pop. As her kitchen only has eight doors below and twelve small ones over the counter this will give you an idea of the tiny space, but her use of bold colors makes it look like something on one of the decorating websites and with paint, curtains, lamp, etc., the best part is she only spent about $100! It's all in taking what you have that you really love and decorating the room to show it off! Good luck to you. Hope this gives you a few ideas for your room.

You will need to look at your things in the kitchen and see what the lightest color is , Go with it and if it is not white , then you could paint the trim white. But i would not paint it too dark. You need to paint the wall first then the trim. I hope this works for you

What is the color scheme in your home in other rooms? Are you planning on changing your current flooring ? current cabinet color? If not, go with a color that would bring your flooring and cabinets to life. If you are changing flooring and your cabinet color - what are your likes ? I have my kitchen painted bright yellow with red cabinets with white time trim and a hardwood floor. If you are the owner of the room (use it all the time) go with what you like. Better Homes and Garden has a website that you can paint a room using color swatches on the internet so you see before you paint, you might like to see all colors and pick from there. Be bold and use your creativity.

I don't feel that there is a bad colour to paint your kitchen. You need to look at the permanent items you have there (i.e. your oven, fridge, counter top). The most important thing to remember though is to use the PROPER paint in any room. Whether it be a gloss, glaze, demi-glaze, latex or oil based paint.
Good luck with your painting!

Yellow, Peach or a nice mint green color. Make sure you get some color tabs from the store first and then choose wisely.

I like a light yellow, with the trim being done in white,
If your kitchen is dark, you need to do it in a light color, If you have a lighter kitchen you can use a { little } darker color just keep in mind, it is all up to you, If you are married. most men like dark colors. or most of the time they want Blue, If your going to do it in blue, do it { pale blue }, I can say they always go for darker color's But, they are not in the kitchen most of the time........ my husband tells me I got the house to take care of He has the garage, and he spends alot of time there, and hangs out there in the garage with the guys... women hangs in the house. and most of the time us women chase the men. out to the garage..................... LOL~~~LOL~~~LOL
Good Luck !

Mine is painted yellow. I find it a restful and relaxing colour for the kitchen. We have coloured tiles to give a splash of colour.

I painted my kitchen a deep red. The cabinets are white and I have a hardwood floor. It's scrumptious. (now, if I could only cook...)
