Then what's the problem? Check with your friend, make sure he's ok with you asking her out and then go for it. Assuming you are both of an age, of course.

Why dont you three go out once...then may be while interacting with her u can know how ur mate feels.....if all is well.....u can clarify whether u can go out with her sometime.......that's it :)
