They are A, B, C. A is the mother of B. B the mother of C. So B is not only a mother but also a daughter. So you have two mothers and two daughters. And hence three peole, the max that can pass the bridge. And that's how I get 10 points.

Since you say four persons, it can't be Grandmother, Mother and Daughter.
How about one of the daughters is a baby and is carried by her mother. No age was mentioned.
