There is a lot you can do with 2 year olds in art for example:

* using finger paints-there are friendly child paints available everywhere.
*dried peas, pasta, beans-using these a child can make a picture and with your help stick it on paper, card etc using glue-also child friendly glue is available everywhere.
*corn flour is also very good when added with water it thickens-using a large container add coloured paint and the children love 2 play with it like sand or water and when adding glue it is possible 2 create a picture.
*coloured sand 2 create a picture
*glueing and sticking materials 2 create art work
*drawing with crayons and pencils

The possibilities are endless and it also helps 2 promote their creative development.

There are many websites where you can find ideas.

Hope some of my ideas are use full 2 you...
Have fun.

Well, If I have only one thing to say, they love paint. One thing the kids I baby-sit for love to paint, with pudding, it is a different idea, but the kids love it. They won't mind cleaning up, either. What you do is take a few bowls of pudding and let the kids get messy. Just give them a peice of paper and let them get dirty. They absalutley love doing it.

Something 2 year olds also might enjoy is coloring. You can get coloring books for like 97 cents at walmart and a box of crayons for about 50 cents. I know when I baby-sit 2 year old twins, they love to color with me. They also feel great when they finish it and give it to someone.

Another idea may be to draw or print a picture of a shopping cart and then cutting out pictures of food from magazines. Then let the kid(s) glue the pictures on the shopping cart. From my expreince, they love doing it.

Another thing may enjoy doing is using chalk. Just sit in the drive-way with them and let them dras. Chalk is really cheap, but the kids love it. It may get their pants a little messy, but not anything a washing machine can't fix.

Something else that they love doing is to make neclaces . It is an easy project and and hardly costs anything at all. All you need is some yarn and straws. What you do is cut the straws into little peices, not to little though, they should each measure out to be about 1 and a half inches. They don't have to be exact, but somewhere around there. Then cut the string to whatever lengh it is needed. Then die about three good size nots at the end of the string and have them string away. In about five minutes, they will have a unique neclace they created by themselves.

Last but not least, a project I did when I was two.....beanie baby wagons. All you need is an empty check box, hole punch, yarn and anything you want to decerate it with. This project is really simple and the kids love it. What you do is punch a hole in the front of the check box,(wagon). Then tie string through it so the kids can pull it around. Then have kids decerate it anyway they want, stickers, markers, etc. Then for the final step, have the kids put in their favorite beanie baby. Then they will have a wagon to pull their freinds around in.

Good luck with the art projects and I hope that everything goes well!!!!!!!

Try anything that is messy art like powder sugar and food die icing and food coloring also shaving cream is fun noodles and beans they like to use them as snakes on the pages. tissue paper in a sand bucket and make jello play time once a week also use marbles and paint in a 13 by 9 pan and let them roll it around. Try simple things like making home made play dough with herseys coco that way the can roll the play dough until it is tough and save it in a container.

Actually 2 year olds do not understand art yet, do not push a 2 year old either to be a super genius for your status quo.
The best is PBS, and child oriented TV. There are also child toys for this age range printed on packaging.

It should be...what can't you do? My son (now 4) has finger painted on easels since he was two. There is always sidewalk chalk. That is something that you could have kids do outside for hours. My son just got his own painting easel that we take outside and he water colors. Another tip, if you do not have space outside, get a cheap vinyl tablecloth to put under the easel or painting. That helps clean-up easy. If you can find a long piece of butcher paper to lie out on the floor, children can group-color on the floor. You can visit playhousedisney.com for other ideas. Take some of your old pop tart or snack boxes, cut them up with some scrap paper and staple it all together into a little book. Kids like to have their own "book." They can color or "write" it in it.

if you have a two year old the best things is do show things that they can see, and use the fingers to really see and learn. Try finger paints use lots of different colors, tell her the colors as she is using it. Paint with her... also clay works really great. Try building thing with tracing her hands and making a sun with the paper plate in the middle that she can color yellow. And put all of the yellow hands around it.

Another thing you can do with paper plates it put macaroni inside two paper plates staple the outside and you get music.

The great thing is that you can use anything around the house as learning and fun art. I hope that you have lots of fun.

try making ur own play-doh it's fun and non-txic if they put it in their mouths, also, u can make ur own edible finger paints, there are several different recipies for both of these ideas. also, the kids at my school, just like to 'paint' with a mixture of shaving cream and white school glue (if wanted u can add a bit of food coloring for colors) when mixed in the right consistency, it dries kinda poofy, it's really neat. also, this isn't really art, but u can add a little food coloring to it as well, and show how two colors blend together to make a third (yellow and blue make green etc) it's really simple and totally fun! just mix corn starch and water together. that's it (and a little food coloring like i said, if u wish to) it makes a really cool 'goop' which is lots of fun to play with. u can scoop it up in ur hand like a dough and then it sort of melts in ur hand. hard to describe, just gotta try it.

You can get edible finger paints...I think you do a search for them on line. Otherwise, regular finger paints are generally non-toxic and will say so on the package. My kids LOVED to finger paint and do play dough projects at 2 yrs old.
