For most people, including me, it's because of their upbringing. However, I found many unanswered questions in my religion so I began looking into all kinds of other religions. I decided that there is no one religion which is totally correct. So I've developed my own belief system which is a combination of my experiences and the good things that actually work from other religions.

Well, I am quite a rebel. I don't really follow order unless I feel it's right. The same goes with my religion. But the thing is, no matter how much I try to find the weakness of Islam, I just can't find any. :) So, I guess that's why I'm so proud of my religion. ^___^

But then again, I'm a teenager so maybe I'll find more question later on in life and then Islam will probably prove me wrong and strengthen my belief once again. How about you?

In 99% of all cases it is the result of upbringing and education. That's the reason why most organised religions try to get their hands on children, because if you brainwash them young, they are more likely to stay that way for a lifetime.
Only a small number of people manage to free themselves from religious shackles later in life.

i reckon some people go to bible college, or any other college with a emphasis on religion and start to believe in what they are reading, and the same induces people to stop believing in God or other things....for a lot of Americans this country was founded on men who believed the bible was the truth, and that was what America was brought up on. we can't be mad necessarily at the people who want to band certain things from the u.s. because of this very thing...it's all they know.

I believe it is mostly upbringing. Luckily I have a brain in my head and can think for myself and go "Huh?" when people try and tell me something that just sounds stupid and pass it off as honest truth.

Most people follow what their parents taught. A few have changed for various reasons, but even fewer follow what they have found through sound research and prayer.

Unfortunately there are those who were brought up that way and never questioned (logically NOT emotionally) their faith.
I was brought up to question everything and this has only strengthen my faith in Christianity.
I look at some of the jaded responses and feel sorry for those who are so bitter and spew their emotional (not always) logical replies
