You could try turning the joke into a compliment!
eg. Is THAT what you are wearing?.......Good, cos you look great in it - but then you always do! (the second remark stops any comeback!
There are some things that you cannot give the right answer to:
Does my bum look big in this? (you mean it does in other things)
Which outfit should I wear? (what's wrong with the other outfit? You liked it last time I wore it)
What colour suits me best? (so I don't look good in.....?)
Tact is always the best policy. If she does look dreadful, just say something like 'You look very nice but I always fancy you most when you in the blue dress'.
If you don't learn to say nice things, it will cost you a fortune in flowers!

Depends on the girl, I have only ever met one girl who you can do it to and fair play to her she dishes it straight back. She won't take it seriously either and she knows I'm only joking, likewise when she says it back. It's so refreshing and we have such a laugh, and I aint even known her that long!

no there isn't because depending on the girl it can vary about what she gets offended about, and what offends one girl may not with another, but no one thing can be guarenteed to NOT offend, not just girls, anyone in fact
