Try to think of women as your friend and nothing more. This will help you to relax and be more yourself around them. Before you know it you will be familiar to the social setting that you won't be too tongue tied. Being a little shy and tongue tied is not all that bad.

First of all relax, be yourself (that always comes across as 'genuine' and people like that).
Don't place anymore importance upon a conversation with a woman than you with a man.
View any women you speak to in the same way as you would any passing acquaintance - as someone it's nice to say Hello to; or to help; or as someone who you might get along with and become friends (note, I said friends, not lovers).
I suspect you feel that women are either judging you in some way as a man or potential partner, or you feel you have an 'agenda' to follow in that every woman is a potential girlfriend. Ditch those ideas as they are not true.
Just be yourself, and treat them as people and friends first and foremost.
Hope it helps.

When you talk to them, don't look them in the eye.. look at there hairline for ex. You wount be so shy then. When you finally stuck up a conversation and you feel a bit more secure, you can start to look them in the eyes...

Imagine you are talking in a third person, instead of thinking ''I am'' think ''He is''
For example, I find it difficult to big myself up in interviews but find it easy to say someone else is excellent, therefore I now imagine i am talking about someone else - even though that person is me... Weird....
And what you need to do is get the girl to talk more, girls love to talk and talk about themselves, ask questions, sound interested. The tip is find out more about them than they do about you.
If they ask what you do at weekends, answer briefly and ask them what they do at weekends.

You just need to relax and be sure of what you want to say.Or you can take a glass or two wine first,it worked for me.But don't talk too much, just when it is necessary.

Practice with a friend... hopefully a female friend.

Come on... your in your 40's (the best decade there is)...
