The best thing to do is lean forward (because leaning back or lying down can cause the blood to run down the back of your throat). Pinch your nostrils shut until the bleeding stops, and then be careful when you blow your nose for a couple of days. Sometimes putting a little vaseline inside your nose can help. If the bleeding doesn't stop within a few minutes, call the paramedics.

according to my medical training lean forward {if you go back blood drips down the throat} pinch the fleshy part of the nose until it stops {a minute or two should do it} or you can put pressure inside the top of the upper lip right up above the two front teeth you can use a clean soft cloth for this as it puts pressure on the blood vessels behind the flesh stopping the blood flow. If neither of these two work seek medical attention as this is what we did on the ambulance for all our patients before we had to pack the nose which should only be done by medical professionals. Put an ice bag on the back of ur neck..never tilt ur head back always forward don't pinch let it take it's course. get a dehumidifier in room...prevents ur nose from drying up and bleeding again. And DO NOT blow ur nose during and after bleeding...let it clot. wait for a couple of hrs before blowing ur nose to get the clots out

please dont tilt your head back ,do you honestly want that running down your throat! I get a piece of brown paper bag roll it up and put it under your upper lip,it works.also running a scissors down your back using the metal handle .also put an ice cold compress on your face and neck.

put your head back! take a cold and wet towel and put it on the neck!
