Gas and Petrol are the same thing.
America = Gas
England = Petrol
Both are the fuel for a domestic vehichle. Petrol is the name in England and came from the main ingredient used to make fuel for domestic vehichles called Petroleum or Petrol for short. The finished product is called Gasoline or Gas for short.
The difference for any nation no matter what you call the fuel is the octane level, lead added or not (old cars needed lead), corn based or not (E85), or diesel.

Gasoline and Petrol are the same thing. Just don't put kerosene, methane, or any other fuels in your vehicle without checking with the manufacturer first.
