In the 1st chapter of genesis God made man and woman in his image. In the 2nd chapter woman was made FROM man. (confused!)

Whats the deal with this?

Genesis 1:27 says "So God created man in His own image:in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." Genesis chapter 2 states that woman was taken out of man but prior to that in the verse above, God had stated what the end result will be.

So yes, the raw materials were different but the results are the same - both made in the image of God. Mind you, if woman was taken from man who was taken from the earth then she was ultimately taken from the earth as well.

Finally, in Gen 2:7, "God formed man out of dust and breathed into his nostril the breath of life; and man became a living being." The same spirit that gave man life is the same spirit that made the woman a living being. The animals and plants were not treated in this way! Man and woman are different from the others because we were made in God's image to have dominion over all the rest of creation.

The second chapter of Genesis is older than the first. They were rearranged at the Great Synode of 432 B.C. This rearrangement is called the Pia Fraus, the Holy Lie.

Note that in Genesis 1, it says "man and woman created He him" - *him*, not them. This means, man, the human being, was created androgynous. And this, in turn, means - as the human was created in God's image - that God is androgynous. Or, perhaps more likely, it may mean that the human being was created as two beings, one male and one female, because the Divine Being is itself two beings - one male and one female! This would explain the name Elohim, "Gods" - a feminine plural of a masculine noun.

They were BOTH made in the image of God, yet woman was made FROM man. While it may sound contradictory or confusing, we have to assume the authority of the Bible and take it as it is - we may not understand how this works, but it is how it happened! :)

Let's see what the writer of Paul says about it...

1 Corinthians 11:7
A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.

Very nice I must say.

Even the trinity is up to its neck in testicles. Father, Son, Holy Ghost, all males. Do others notice there's a son and a father but no mother or is it only me?

The answer is "both" first of all according to the Bible the word MAN reffers to both man and woman, the human beings.and we are all made in the image of God. The bible does NOt say "women was made from the image of man" but woman was made from man.....and am sure it´s so hard to understand the difference ;-)..........read the bible fully,do not just pick out afew words!

man and woman are made in the image of God. And yes, He made her from man.

Why can't it be both? If you make a cake from scratch or from a box, isn't it still a cake?

In the same way that woman came out of man, the Church (the wife of Christ, the second Adam) came out of God.

The Bible is full of physical-spiritual symmetry (the physical is only "a shadow").
