Planets are the places where any life forms in the universe can exist and develop. Not all planets though, but quite a few billions of them. Stars could not sustain life.
Of course there is life in outer space, and I am sure that there is plenty of intelligent life as well. It would be totally illogical that we are the only planet in the whole Universe that has developed that way. And the Universe, as all of Nature, is based on Logic.

thisqueston was asked a few hours back Yes, there is life in outerspace. the chance that this is the only planet in the universe is so small that it isinfitesimal. There are billions upon billionsofstars out t here with planets revolving around the some scientistsaid that if only one out of a million stars had planets, and of those, only one in a million could support life, and only one in a million of those supported intelligent life, there would still be millions of intelligent alien species.

Planets are like the earth's Jewellery, we can have fun looking at them! I'm not convinced that there is life in outer space and I hope I never find out. I don't think I'd like to see an alien.

Any scientists can make the building blocks for life in a test tube with oxygen, nitrogen and electricity (energy), three of the most common elements in the universe. To understand the number of planets in the universe, if you imagine a grain of sand in a bucket of sand, that's like millions... then think of all the grains of sand on one beach, which is trillions of trillions... then think about how many beaches there are on the planet, looking at tens of thousands. Now as far as we know, there are AT LEAST as many grains of sand on all of the beaches in the world as there are stars in the universe. We know of many stars that have planets, like our own solar system. The chances of there NOT being life of some sort is so slim it's not funny.
What are these planets for? ... for providing habitats for gods many and varied creatures I presume.

I believe all the planets are experiments of god creating a planet like earth and that's how many planets it took to finally make the perfect earth.

They are to provide insight into his magnificent universe.
With the event of planets, man can more easily figure out the solar system. Also, it provides a THEME PARK for exploration.
That's my guess. I could be wrong... it's hard to "read the mind" of a being superior to myself. My dog has trouble "getting" me, as well.
