The Bible is bound to contradict itself, IT WAS NOT WRITTEN BY GOD but by men!

God's inspiration cannot contradict itself

2 Samual 6:23 Michael had No Children till they day of her death.

2 Samual 21:8
But the king took the two sons of Rizpah, the daughter of Alah whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the meholathite.

I was going to work on this and try to learn and help you, but I see your not asking the question because your a believer, So I wil just write the bible verses down and learn them on my own, and share them with the believers.

2 Samuel 8:4 is 700 Horsemen

2 Samual 24:1 Anger of the Lord Kindled against Israel and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.

Saul / Paul was not alway a rightous man, it wasn;t until Acts after Christ Jesus came to him blinded him three days send him to tha Apostles until he was filled with the Holy Ghost, his work before Acts , was not perfected work, is the way I take the bible..

Even Jesus ask him why he was doing that work against him..

The true question is, why do all of us sin over and over again, and yet Jesus Christ still love and forgives us and teaches us, I think Jesus used Saul/Paul as a example.

Like he used Simon Peter who denied him and repented....

Hi? I'll not answer your questions directly but I'll try and explain to you why it is so.
Well, a long time ago, the bible existed in form of oral tales which were handed down from generation to generation, these tales (they were mostly true) then came to be written down on paper.
They were written by different groups of writers and each group put down their version of the story in order to serve some specific need of the community, for instance to educate about some particular thing. Since every group had their own version of the accounts in the bible some disparities came up and these are the contradictions you have noted. This however does not mean that the bible is not an authority on matters of religion because it is, it only means that some things said in the bible may not be accurate because the bible is an authority only in matters of religion. Scrutinise the bible a bit more and you'll find that some measurements or distances or locations in the bible are not quite accurate. Nevertheless, read on and enjoy but do not interpret the bible literally, there are several types of interprettation of the bible and you must consider them when reading the bible. Know that Bible is the word of God, and the word of God is God. God is no man that He should lie, so the Bible cannot contradict itself.

In a court today, if witnesses all testify precisely the same regarding an incident, the conclusion is, not that they are truthful, but that they are perjurers. Why? Because experience teaches us that no two people see an event exactly alike. One point impresses one witness; another point impresses another. Again, they may all have heard exactly the same words spoken in connection with the event, but each reports the words a little differently. One witness may even report certain parts of a conversation that the other witnesses do not report. But so long as there is no clear contradiction in the thought or meaning of the variant statements, the witnesses may be considered to have told the truth. Indeed, apparently contradictory statements may often prove to be not contradictory at all, but actually complementary.

1: The second scripture refurs to a different one of Saul;s daughters, Merab. This is sometimes written as Michal in some hebrew versions as they are derivations of the same thing, but they are in fact different people.

2: The original text of the second scripture is unclear. The translators did the best job they could based on what they had. We have to assume that the first one is accurate because the text was undamaged.

3: There is no contradiction here. God spoke to David telling him the reason for the famine. He didnt tell him to take the census. They are two different things.

4: Look later in the second passage, the girl was found to be indeed dead.

5: It was common in contemporary ancestral registers to compress the lists to make them fit into rigid blocks, here in to 14s. (Mat 1:17) Whilst this seems like a strange practice by todays standards, it was entirely normal in the culture at the time, and not intended to decieve anyone.

6: Yes, only. Many of the psalms are prophetic, looking forward to Jesus. This in itself is a wonderful testament to the Bible's accuracy. These records were written hundreds of years before Christ, and yet contain many accurate details about his life that could not be faked. There are over 300 very specific prophecies in the book of Isaiah alone, which give meticulous detail about Jesus, where he would be born, exactly what he would do, even how he would die. Isaiah has been scientifically proven to be from 908 years before Christ. How do you account for this?

7: You need to understand the difference between a claim and a testimony. Testimony refurs to judicial proceedings in a court of law. Here there needs to be verifiable witnesses. The second passage is talking about a 'claim' which has nothing to do with legality. Jesus is merely saying that his CLAIMS are valid. Everyone has the right to claim anything.

8: Gen 6:3 says 'in the future', not 'from now on'.

9: Theyre talking about the same thing. Both names are metaphorical for God's people, those who believe in him.

Now... I have two questions for you.

1: As I wrote in answer 6, how do you account for those facts?

2: When you say "I found" these contradictions, did you find them in the course of your bible reading, or did you copy them off a website?

It seems to me that you are just looking for reasons not to believe. The thing is, even if these were all genuine contradictions, (which ive shown they arent), even then they are trivial matters, and nothing to do with the important issues, of does God exist, what is the meaning of life, what will happen when you die, etc etc. Dont let your desire to poke holes in the Bible get in the way of facing up to the eternal issues.

Some people really enjoy digging their own grave!

174 contradictions of verses in Bible.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

was the header of a recent newsgroup posting.

Please see what the Qur'an says:

Sura 6:115

The words of thy Lord are perfect in truth and in justice;
NONE can change His words:
For He is the one who heareth and knoweth all.

Sura 6:34

There is none that can alter the words of Allah.
Already hast thou received some account of those messengers.

Sura 10:65

There is no changing the words of God;
that is the supreme triumph.

Further in Sura 3:3 and others, the Qur'an confirms that Torah, Zabur
and Injil are words of God.

Do you believe the Qur'an is true in its statement
that NOBODY can change the words of God?

Something to ponder for you.

Every time you dig out an "error" in the [Torah/Gospel], you confirm that the Qur'an is WRONG and prove that the very foundation of your religion is faulty. The Qur'an states this at least three times to make sure you don't
overlook it.

If you think the Bible is wrong BECAUSE of some contradictions
you have piled up, then think about the contradiction between
the Qur'an and your confidence in this "proof". In my opinion this
is a serious logical problem.

I am not going through them all but what is your source?

1 Chronicles 18:1-4 (New International Version)

1 Chronicles 18
David's Victories
1 In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its surrounding villages from the control of the Philistines.
2 David also defeated the Moabites, and they became subject to him and brought tribute.

3 Moreover, David fought Hadadezer king of Zobah, as far as Hamath, when he went to establish his control along the Euphrates River. 4 David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung all but a hundred of the chariot horses.

2 Samuel 8:1-4 (New International Version)

2 Samuel 8
David's Victories
1 In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Metheg Ammah from the control of the Philistines.
2 David also defeated the Moabites. He made them lie down on the ground and measured them off with a length of cord. Every two lengths of them were put to death, and the third length was allowed to live. So the Moabites became subject to David and brought tribute.

3 Moreover, David fought Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when he went to restore his control along the Euphrates River. 4 David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers [a] and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung all but a hundred of the chariot horses.

Both seem to say 7000 charioteers?
Other versions do exist that say "seventeen hundred of his charioteers" - Dead Sea Scrolls and 1 Chron. 18:4 Masoretic Text but these texts were hand written and copied without the benefit of spell checkers and mass printing, so I am not surprised if the occasional error crept in.

All religious texts contain similar contradictions probably for the same reason.

Saul (known as Paul) changed the Bible according to his desires, he wrote 13/27 from his mind. Christians have no single evidence he was a man of truth, taking in account his evil background

You know what? The only people who think the Bible contradicts itself, are the ones who arent smart enough to compare and study other Bible verses. If you do study, the Bible proves everything insync.

And the only people dumb enough to insist that the bible doesn't contradict itself, have no evidence to counter the contradictions already previously pointed out!

I'll take your challenge. I'm not afraid!................The bible is a book of contradiction because it wasn't god inspired and many people wrote it that didn't have their facts straight. I know your looking for an argument and I have your same outlook. Okay,...............Its because god said so! You're going to burn in hell oh rational one. Satan loves Scientists.
