or rather stink?
Do you feel a pang of conscience when you kill your opponent who is also a human like you only member of the opposite camp?
When did killing become so honourable?

Actually I disagree.
I am totally not for most of the wars that countries wage against each other, but don't blame the soldiers.
Soldiers are the pawns of the goverment and don't have any say in what they do. They often are brainwashed into believing what they do is the right thing.
If you were posted in some craphole you would want to think it was for a purpose too, so focus your attention on the governments and politicians that send these guys into bad situations.

Disagree. That being said you mention that you are not in America so I am going to guess that you have not served in the US or any other military. I am curious where you do reside. I'd be will to bet it is a country where your freedoms (including access to the Internet, of speech, of dissent) were won and secured by men and women willing to fight, place their lives in danger and in some cases, die. I served in the US army and I can assure you that people in the service don't consider themselves "heroic" but honorable. And the job as you call it is not to kill people. The "job" is to defend your country and way of life. And yes, people do die. But they die on both sides of the line.

I wish that you were lucky enough to live in America, where it has been over 30 years since we have had to draft people to fight for our country. Our military is currently completely voluntary, because we have men and women who are proud to fight for the freedom of the rest of us and those countries that don't have the means to fight for themselves. I thank my lucky stars to have been born here. Does war suck? Hell, yes. But the other option of letting the insurgents run rampant and persecute those in their countries that are helpless sucks too. I hope that they are over there kicking some ***.

And who's heroic to you Buddy? . . . Bad guys are everywhere. We need the heroic good guys to keep the world at least still bearable to live in. . . Military men are heroic.

obviously you are not an american to think that a soldiers job is to kill other people. their job is to protect the united states, do you know how many billions of dollars are wasted on american soldiers going to other countries to hand out food or help them after a natuaral disaster.
so where do you get off saying that their only job is to kill other people?
