If you don't belive that Jesus is the messiah, then why don't you practice everything to the extreme extent of the old testament. If Jesus isn't the messiah, then you aren't forgiven for your sins; Therefore, why aren't you sacrificing lambs and goats in your back yard to cover the sins that you commit?

I'm not saying Jews to be mean, is it mean to say Jew?

Please people, stop being so defensive. Nowhere in my question did I say that Jewish beliefs are wrong or that they are going to hell. I am asking a question, I'm curious.

Jews follow the laws of Torah. You can only sacrifice in the Temple which currently doesn't exist. Also sacrifices are not required in Judaism. If you actually read the Torah it will become evident that there are many ways to atone. Sacrifices being just one of those ways.

This is one of the reasons Jews don't understand the whole Jesus sacrifice thing, since it is optional then what exactly did Jesus' crucifixion accomplish? That plus according to the laws of Torah Jesus wasn't even a valid sacrifice. Even when the second Temple stood sacrifices were almost unheard of.

Its simple really- you can only offer sacrifices at the temple in Jerusalem. Since that has been destroyed and is unlikely to be rebuilt until the Messiah comes (I don't see the Muslims letting Al Aqsa mosque be pulled down- and that is built over where the Holy of Holies was) we do not offer sacrifices anymore.

Instead we pray and repent through our deeds, words and the giving of charity. It is not an unique occurence, the same situation applied after the first temple was destroyed by the Babylonians.

Even during the Temple times- repentence through prayer, deeds and an offering of something besides a blood sacrifice was common. There has always been an exemption for the poor that could not afford an animal in that they could bring a flour or wine offering instead- today we use charity as a symbolic rememberance of those sacrifices.

Hey, think of the words of the psalm

" By the rivers of Babylon, we sat down. There we wept and remembered Zion. By the words of our mouths, and the meditations of our hearts..."

On top of that- we do follow the rest of the Torah (what you would call the Five books of Moses) and the expounding of the laws in the mIshnah (Oral law given on Sinai) at the same time- as much as possible. The main laws which are not in use are the civil and criminal code in Judaism as they need a proper Sanhedrin, Rabbinical court, to be constituted and ther ehasn't been one in since the 9th century. The Sanhedrin will be reconstituted at the same time as the Temple, and then the Civil and criminal law within Judaism will be used again.

I'm not a Jew but they are following the Bible. The Bible clearly taught that there is only one place on earth where sacrifices could be made and that was at the temple in Jerusalem. Since the destruction of the temple in 70 AD no sacrifices have been made because they do follow the Bible. Also most Jewish people today are secular Jews and not orthodox. If you read the prophecies in Ezekiel, the Jewish people are back in their land "in unbelief" at this point in history.

There are at least 45,000 Protestant churches in the U.S.

What caused all these different beliefs if the MESSAGE is so clear?

What makes you believe that you have more than a 1 in 45,000 chance of being in the 'correct' church?

Virgin Birth - A preconceived notion?

What is the Imacculate Conception?

An Imacculate deception?

Betcha don't know.

Did Jesus give up Saturday for us?

Jesus? Christianity? .

If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.

Gods do not die? Do they?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?

If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.

If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!

Even in your Christian Bible, Jesus commands that you should do as the Pharisees say as they sit on the seat of Moses. [He then adds a slap - don't do what they DO].

Well, according to the Pharisees - whose opinion Jesus trusted according to your book - the sacrifices are not the only method towards attonement. Don't believe me? Check out the book of Jonah. An entire civilization was forgiven through repentance alone - no sacrifices.

In general, I agree. We are to follow the "Old Testament" as much as possible. God's Law stands forever.

Wow bro, I am sure you just saved a lot of people with that one.

Christ said have "salt in yourselves and have peace with one another."

Its great that you can come up with these little constructs to show people if they may be wrong in something, but Christ also said, "if you love me, keep my commandments and you shall be my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free."

Your life. Your own actual life is what you should be focusing on and not some irrelevant logical fallacy that you think you have just discovered.

Paul says work out your salvation with fear and trembling. WITH FEAT AND TREMBLING.

Paul also says that he has not won the race but that he presses on to the end.

If you are worried about how other people are living their lives, then I garauntee you that you are not devoting enough attention to how you run your own race.

Run so as to win the apostle says.

The man who runs to win, does not even know what his opponents are doing. He focuses on his own training like a mad man.

Focus on your own training like a mad man and quit worrying about other people. If you are salty then be salty indeed. If other people are not the salt and the light then what business yours is that.

Again, Christ said, have "salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another."

Remember when Isaiah had his vision. What did he say. Oh God look at wrong the thinking of all of these people is.

I don't think so.

The first thing he cried was, "Behold, I am a man of unclean lips and these are a people of unclean lips."

I am a man of unclean lips. Isaiah's first observation was his own wickedness and secondly, the wickedness of his own people.

The publican went into the temple and beat his chest and cried out "God be merciful to me a sinner."

If you are spending this much time trying to figure out some stupid little thing like this about people that have nothing to do with you, then I can assure you that you are not running your own race so as to win.

real hardcore ones do. they also practice by eating only kosher foods. the rules for this are out lined in the old testament. also just because jesus didnt die for their sins doesnt mean that they can't get to heaven, it is just harder because they have to live a moral life all the time.

Torah forbids offering the sacrifice at a place of our own choosing (like my backyard), it specifically commands that we are to only sacrifice at the designated place. (The Temple in Jerusalem.)

So we are obeying the Bible by not offering burnt offerings.
