Some confused though worthy prophets. The "OT" is quite consistent (god is like a mean child who likes to throw his toys around), but in the "NT" god suddenly changes and starts to behave. Though god got better, the saga turns into something of a soap opera, and the winters are not only confused but utterly delusional. Men wrote the bible of course, with the assistance of a little divine inspiration (not only the bible is partially inspired, some films are too, for instance 2001: A Space Odyssey)

the bible is composed of many letters, books, and documents that were written by men and inspired by God. Throughout history poeple have gathered text and compiled it and translated it into what we have today. the original books were written in Greek and Hebrew. the Old testament in Hebrew and the New Testament in Greek. the bible is a book composed of books, songs, history, letters, and literature written by many different people throughout a long time period. The English translation of the Bible wasnt around untill the dark ages when a man translated the bible into OLD ENGLISH. So everyone could read it. Since then the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and since there has been many and various translations.

Yes, people were "borne along by holy spirit" to write the bible. But the message is from God himself. In order to understand this, it's like having a secretary. You tell your secretary what to write - she is the writer, but whose thoughts is she writing down? Yours, right? The same with the bible, the author is God himself (Psalms 83:18 states his divine name) and the bible writers numbered 44 of them. (From Moses to the Apostle John).

A lot of different guys, wrote ot things going on in their lives, and then a lot of other guys decided which they felt were important for you to read. And then there was the idiot who wrote down a bad dream, and people took it for truth(revelations) making them even more stupid than the first guy.

The exact figure is not known, but we know it was over 40 men over 1500 years. But remember the author of the Bible is God, that's what ties it all together. Check out my web site for more detailed information http://www.geocities.com/bwrobinsonca/booksofthebible
