I wonder what you want to know but if it is the difference in communication between the Japanese and American people, there is a great difference in the meaning of their non-verbal communication.

Looking into the eyes and speaking is considered rude in Japan (children are taught to look at the throat or Adam's apple when speaking to elders) while for the Americans not looking into the eyes when speaking rings the alarm bells of doubt.

Widened eyes means surprise in America but in Japan it means a sign of fear.
