very few people on welfare are not working (except for perhaps illegals).

Due to the 1996 welfare reform, there are limits of 5 years for drawing welfare, but recipients only receive the full 5 years if they're working a job. The time limit for finding a job is 2 years. The illegals get welfare by stealing social security numbers and identities and using false papers. Therefore, the time limits under the Clinton welfare reform doesn't apply to them because once the time limit is up, all they have to do is get new stolen social security numbers and identities and false papers and start all over again. American citizens who draw welfare are limited to the time limits from the welfare reform and are then cut off. American citizens who fall on hard times and have to turn to welfare assistance have a harder time finding jobs that pay enough to live off of because the illegals have taken jobs and depressed the wages of those jobs still available to American citizens. Therefore, those in the lower working class are highly unlikely to ever be able to "work their way up" since the opportunities have been stolen which will entrap these people into poverty with little to no way out.

The majority of single mothers on welfare escaped an abusive relationship. Many suffer from psychological effects from the abuse and have PTSD. Those suffering from PTSD have frequent flashbacks from numerous 'triggers'. This makes it difficult for them to become gainfully employed. Their abusers often get away with the abuse they inflicted while the victims face years of recovery just to be able to function semi-normally in society.

The stereotypical depiction of a welfare recipient is false. Most of them work jobs, but make only minimum wage or close to it. Minimum wage doesn't even cover basics, so they are eligible for welfare. Someone's wages are not a measure of how hardworking someone is, but a measure of other factors. Labor supply is one of those factors. If there's a large amount of labor supply, wages will be kept low. This is what is currently occuring since there is such massive illegal immigration.

It's always good to help fellow Americans with our tax dollars. The problem comes when there is fraud. It is not in the best interest of society to force women to only have a certain number of children. It is also in the best interest of our society that these children have someone to watch them and are not running amok in the streets. Hopefully, people on welfare who are not working because they need to watch their children are doing a good job watching their children, but I wouldn't feel comfortable allowing the government to have further rights of intrusion on our privacy to keep tabs on parents to see if they're doing a good job. Some things just can't be monitored every moment of the day - especially by the government - that would be freaky - Oh, wait, are "THEY" reading this now? I'd better lock my doors and hide in the basement. :)

Nothing comes free
Why do you think colleges require residence of at leat 12 months in the state, for a reduce tuition?
Well because from elementary thur college, the instituions are mostly funded by state dollars.
Where these state dollars come from, state tax, exercise tax, energy tax, surgage tax.
When you buy food, 7.75 % at leat in my district goes to the state,
if you smoke cigarettes $ 8.70 of every carton goes to the state
if you smoke cigars 46.76 % to the the state,
if you buy gas about .30 of every gallon goes to the state,
cable, telephone, cellular phone just name a service and a product and every one of them carry state taxes.
Saying all that, the revenue of the state goes to education, health, laws enforcement, grants and some other programs that I can't recall, so the resident legal or not, paid for those services.
To all the people that complain that illegal don't paid taxes, they are just wrong.
They paid their share of the taxes used for educations.
Only small business have a bigger share in taxes,
Big business knows the way to deduct everything, and end up paying less taxes.

Welfare fraud isn't OK.

People coming here illegally don't have a right to government benefits, in my opinion.

I have no problem with people using welfare who are legally here and need it. That is why we have it.

if medicaid would cut these people off, except for tubals and snip snip for the men, they would stop dropping babies like rabbits.and they wouldnt have any more reason to live off welfare.i cant understand how they can stand to have a baby every nine months.but when they dont cost you anything to have and feed and when you dont make them behave, i guess they dont bother you.

From religious point of view you get benefit if you help people in goodness; you get bad reactions if you help somebody doing sinful activities.

It's there to help the poor who need it, but the illegals shouldn't be receiving it like they are.
