Actually I was born in the US and I know quite a few people who have that opinion. They are never able to answer my question though. it is quite difficult to get a visa/ citizenship. Some people who have quite sucessful lives in their home country may want to visit family members here can never get the chance to because they are denied. After 13 + years waiting for a visa without a criminal record and with a source of income should be long enough.

And would you support better immigrations laws to help people get in here legally quicker? You will find most of these people are some of the hardest working well behaved people. US brought them in here for cheap labor and now punish them for that?

Let me answer this in a scenario

I am a hard working American citizen. I work and have stood beside the government for a long time. I've even saved numerous lives. But the fact is, I don't get paid enough. I don't want my kids to have to live a poor and hard life so I had to steal some money from the government.

Yeah it is a sad story that no one wants to live but a crime is committed and a punishment must fallow. No matter if you wanted a better life, or this is what you have to do to survive. The only fact is it is reality.

People steal food and money to keep their family living another day. they get punished and so will every other crime like illegal immigration. And that reality.

I'll let those 'some Americans' answer, but a bunch of illegal aliens are hardcore criminals. One problem with illegal immigration is that immigrants are not screened for disease, gang ties or criminal records. I understand that while illegal aliens make up 4% of our population they make up 20 to 30 % of our prison population nation-wide and up to 50% in California.

We subsidize our poor people's education and health care which makes it a great deal for poor immigrants. That is why we like all other developed countries that subsidize services have to limit poor immigrants. That is why the wait is so long. We only want to pay for so many. It is not OK to decide the wait is too long and you want us to pay for more of you. That is stealing.

What right do they have to come to our country and make us pay for their education and that of their children in our overcrowded and underfunded schools?

I would support a rate of immigration increase if I knew how we were going to get our own children educated in our border states. There are too many people here already. Logically, I'd support the increase in immigration of legal people before I'd support amnesty, but I wonder how much stomach we, including myself, are actually going to have to deport everyone. We can't take both, our schools and health care are foundering as it is.

If you commit a crime, such as entering the country illegally, you're a criminal. Why do so many people have difficulty understanding this?
And the longer you stay in the country illegally, the longer you remain a criminal. And yet, some of our politicians want to reward the longest staying illegals with citizenship. It's bizarre.

When someone is caught committing a crime and they act like they have committed no crime...not because they didn't do it, but because they think the law is dumb or does not apply to them because it was too hard to follow or it wasn't convenient...Americans get pissed. Why is that so hard to understand?

It's a slap in the face. Maybe even a spit in the face.

At least murderers admit that murder is not right (even if they don't admit that they committed murder.) Look at our justice system. Judges always show mercy by giving lighter sentences to someone who admits what they did and shows remorse. These illegal invaders are showing no such thing. Therefore, I feel no need to show them mercy.

That true why should illegal immigrants only get the punishment. (How do you people think so many illegal immigrants got into this country? because of the greed and corruption in our own government, and to answer your question some Americans view most illegal immigrants as brutal hardcore criminals. Because they can't think for themselves they rely on the media to do it for them. Because I know alot of illegal immigrants personally and they are really friendly people!!!

Not all of us. They did break the law. Showing they have not respect for the laws of the US. I know most obey the laws but they started off on the wrong foot.

They are illegal because we have a established government that makes laws. The Pilgrims were not illegals because there were not laws against immigrant ion.

Some illegals are murderers, Most are not. However, ALL illegal aliens/immigrants entered the U.S. Illegally. The murdering illegals will give the non-murdering illegals a bad name.

If they all came legally, this wouldn't be such a problem.

we dont, we know that most of them are hard-working, honest people, but, theyre still here illegally, just because you country sucks doesnt give you the right to sneak into ours, we'll glady let you in if you do so through the proper channels. Instead of sneaking in and driving down wages because employers can pay you less since your not even supposed to be here, you should try to fix your own problems in your own country.

If you went by the rules you use now, 99% of americans would be considered illegals, since their ancestors didn't fill out forms before they came , they just showed up at ellis island or other places along the coast. hell, even your precious mayflower pilgrims were illegal immigrants.
