Shouldn't God be more concerned with people being kind and loving and good than praising him? Sounds a bit egotistical to need constant praise and attention. Why should a good person be turned away from heaven simply because he didn't go to church?

I guess I mean more egotistical than arrogant.

Wow, telling me that he is God does not answer my question. A God who is supposedly all about love should not turn good people away simple because he doesn't feel like they've given him enough attention. How can he be that selfish and then preach at people to be selfless like Jesus. It's hipocritical.

God has given me no proof that he exists and so I don't believe in him. I'm a good person. I'm loving and caring and kind and if it turns out I'm wrong and there is a God and he doesn't let me in because he needed me to give him an ego boost then I don't want to be in a heaven with a god like that. Thanks for your help. I've reached my conclusion. The Christian God preaches selflessness but does not practice it.

Creator dieties generally have this kind of narcissism. Zeus and Odin are like this, to a point, also. I would like for you to consider that just because the prevailing religion in your culture is faulty doesnt mean that man has no spirit. Religions are just a perception of spirit, an attempt to translate something personal and intimate into public consumption. Theologies from the Middle East, in particular, are more about social conformity than they are about the spiritual development of their followers. They want to conquer the planet. Christians have come closest, so they are the 'haves'. Muslims are the 'have-nots' so will utilize more desperate tactics in their attempt at global conquest. You dont see Buddhists, Shinto, Hindus acting like that, do you? Dont discount man's spirituality just because fanatical death cults that dont make any sense cant justify their contridictions to you.

The God I was taught to believe in seemed egotistical too. So, I created my own way of viewing God. It keeps all the good things about that God but neglects all the stuff that seems so selfish. My God is a god that is kind and loving and that would never turn a good-hearted person away--if they went to church or not. The teachings of goodness are what count and you don't have to go to church to get that! You can read the Bible at home or just use your own heart and brain. It is good if you go; but just attending church will not get you to Heaven! My God is not concerned with being worshiped but more with people trying to be good people. Try not to let their arrogant God turn you away from any God at all!

It would be egotistical for a relationship of equal parties. I don't know the form and shape of God, but it is clear that the relationship between a human and THE Supreme Being, would indicate that in his presence, one would naturally be drawn to total focus on him.

The indication is that since he creates you, and everything around you, you owe him everything, he can't owe you, because everything you give him is something he already gave you.

I don't think a good person would be turned away from heaven for not attending church, but more likely that they did not accept God as being superior to themselves and worthy of regular praise and worship. In other words their failure to recognize that "He's God and we're not:.

Not only does he demand praise but also unflinching obedience... i think God has been modeled around the Monarchs of the past. There was need for both legitimacy as well as fear. So they deployed both and took your human spirit away. We have very recently embarked on humanism where human becomes the center of our concern and not some imaginary God. If God were to be and were really as great as he is depicted, he would in fact assist the ascent of human beings rather than constantly remind us of his petty ego.

Somebody has misinformed You. The God I know is the One who took away my addiction, His the one who took away my shame, my guilt, my pain, and my sin. I was one of the dirtiest men on the planet. One simple example was that I could not stand to see women succeed. Each time when a female would try to instruct me, I would always find a way to put her down and i would usually hit the places that would hurt the most. But, Jesus Christ has changed my character and my perpective on life, and I believe the time is coming when I will be able to look into the eyes of my enemies and have His compation and love toward them.

I'm not sure if you know how big His love is for You, but I do, when He was hanging on the cross He looked at all those people that wanted to kill Him and said, "Forgive them Father for they know not what they are doing" He did not condem them and He doesn't condem you. His love is real, and it is so near to You.

Who told you that church equals passage to Heaven? NO ways. You don't get into heaven by not worshipping God. Who ever told you that you have to go to church or else you go to hell is trying to control you. I go to church to worship God not the church. The right church will tell you that coming to church will not save you....but the correct way of worshipping God will. Church is there to teach us the correctness of worshipping God but you don't go to heaven by going to church. Look at all of those Catholic priest who was found molesting the children.... they went to church pretty much everyday.....do you think they will go to heaven?

If you want to know how to worship God correctly, you gotta ask the right people.... if the ones you ask condemn you, they are not true christians but self appointed righteous people...they are the egotistical ones that make God look bad. God bless and good luck.

Blasphemy! God is concern about everything but not what you want! READ the bible. The bible doesn't speak about going to church as a requirement to get to heaven! Think, please! What about those who are stuck in their hospital beds? God is loving and compassionate therefore He deserves all the Glory and the Praise!

It is religionists who are more concerned with praising god, not God. No good person should be turned away and I do not believe they are. So many millions, perhaps billions of people have lived on this planet without knowing anything about Jesus at all, yet, they are good people, and many of them better "christians" than christians themselves.

If there is a Supreme Being, then that being appears to act as if apathetic to events in our universe.

All events in our Universe, including its creation, can be explained with or without the existence of a Supreme Being. Thus, if there is indeed a God, then that god has had no more impact than no god at all. To all appearances, any purported Supreme Being is indifferent to our Universe and to its inhabitants.

He is ever concerned that we live good, healthy, happy, and successful lives which is why he's given us the knowledge of the laws to accomplish this --- and we have free choice to follow them or not. Now we should naturally be grateful to our Creator for the wonderful things in creation ... all of which one way or another leads back to him. Suppose you were the Creator of all that is --- wouldn't you want even a little acknowledgment...however he is not a dictator and you're free to dismiss him completely if you want --- he'll just go on maintaining creation including allowing the warm sun to shine on your face every day and providing the air and food to help you survive....because you're his child weather you accept that fact or not.
