A lady over 55 wants to wear the hairstyle that looks as though your hair was not combed. Am I attempting to look young or do I just like the style? Should I go for it? Should a lady wear this hair style?

I say do it. I see women of your age with the hairdos you are refering to and it simply looks although the women are more in tune to today's fashion. I suspect you are worried that you will look inappropriate. I don't think that will be the case. Try it.

Just so you know what type of person is offering this advise, I am a 33 years old straight male. And I can tell you I think a 'not combed' look could be very attractive. I think it could add an eliment of youthfulness without making you look like you are trying to be 20.

I think every lady looks good in foundation. I don't think eyeliner and eye shadow should be used after 50. I think a tad of blush is fine though. I haven't worn any makeup on a daily basis for the past twelve years or more because it's too hot in Florida. I do wear makeup though for a special occasion like when I dress up. Having come from a large family, and having had careers that bring me into contact with a lot of people I can say that men would certainly say no makeup is necessary or required, and it's simply because they are cheap skates and know how expensive it is to buy that makeup and know eventually that cost will come out of their pocket.

Go for it!

A lady over 55 gets to do exactly what she wants to do.

As some of your other answers have pointed out, though, make sure the style is flattering for your hair type and facial features.

I think it shows character and individuality.

As with anything else, just make sure it doesn't look like you're "trying too hard" to look hip.

Once you get your hair done, be sure to get feedback not only from your contemporaries, but younger people as well. My guess is that your younger friends may be more enthusiastic about it... contemporaries are used to seeing you in a certain way.

Good luck!!

Wear what u love, who cares what people say. If your 20 or 70 u should rock a hairstyle that u like and looks good on you, no matter what type or color! We will try to get u in a " age approve" do, but be stern and tell us you really want that style but update it to fit u a little better..." personalize it".

coming from a fashion designer and comso girl, i would say completly go for it, your as young as you feel. 55, dont let age stop you. you are who you want to be, so feel how you want to feel. give it a chance, you will notice that a lady is what is on the inside... not your apperance. of course, if your going for an elegant look, just dress the part... you will be good ;] if your looking for a cliche... hot momma look, go for it. dress a little "hip" but ofcourse not TOO hip, it will give you a "grannie gone wild" style, noone wants that. but go for the hair... im sure it will turn out beautiful.

To be honest, I wouldn't even wear that style but, if you just want to try something new for yourself, then by all means have a go with it. If you don't like it, then move on to another hairstyle.

I think this middle-aged lady is trying to deny her age! So, I say no. Just accept how you are and that's that. Have a nice, clean hairdo- long or short. Crazy colors like pink or something doesn't wrong- trust me. I've seen it quite a bit and it gives a "crazy clown" look. So, unless that's what you want, try something nice that fits your age!

Not when she's 55!

My girlfriend (39) used to try to still shop in the "Juniors" section at the store to look cool. She came off looking kind of trampy. It's a woman's call, of course, to look however she wants to, but as a man I prefer women who dress and act their age (or maybe a little younger, but not twenty years!).
