Give your body a chance to get back to normal, you have just been through something extreme. Go on the contraceptive pill for a while. That will definitely regulate you. Good luck with your new daughter.

Even though you aren't breastfeeding the baby, your body is still dealing with all the hormones associated with being pregnant. It takes a few months for them to level back out.
But it wouldn't hurt to talk to your doctor about your concerns. They're still the best person to discuss your health questions with. You may have some issues unknown to those here and their advice/information may not be relevant to your situation. Also, stress can cause goofy things to happen to your menstrual cycle. And let's face it, having a child...particularly a first child, is a stressful situation. Happy...but stressful.
Good luck and congratulations on the new baby girl!

Your body has had a big shock. It can take a while to go back to normal and you may find that your cycle has changed slightly - ie you used to be every 30 days now you are every 28 days.
Your body will slowly revert to normal or a new normal pattern.
Enjoy the changes and congratulations on your baby!

you are fine, this is normal. For up to a year after you give birth, your cycle can be out of wack. After I gave birth to my second child, a few days before I started, I would have these awful hot flashes! Just like women do in menopause. I was only 26, so i thought my hormones were all messed up. I asked my doctor, he said give it a little time, that my body was still trying to fine tune itself, and you know what? He was right, it did, and everything was fine.

I think it takes a while for your body to return to normal.... if it persists after the first year, I would suggest seeing your OBGYN.

Yes, sometimes it does take time to adjust but to ease your mind it is best to discuss it with your doctor. He will check you or not, but do talk with you doctor.

IRREGULAR PERIODS ARE NORMAL AFTER CHILDBIRTH. GIVE YOUR BODY TIME TO ADJUST. AFTER SEVERAL CHILDREN MYSELF, I ALWAYS HAD TO ADJUST TO A NEW SCHEDULE WITH MY PERIODS. DON'T WORRY
