Every airline gives you a free baggae allowance. This is how many pieces of bags you are allowed to check-in and what they are allowed to weigh. If your baggage goes over that weight allowance, or you bring extra baggage, you will have to pay a fee. The fee depends on the airline. Some airlines charge a flat fee, others charge by the extra weight. It's best to check with your airline ahead of time to clearify their rules.

Only if you bring more luggage than allowed, some airlines allows you 2 pieces, some 50-70 pounds, contact the airline before travelling to avoid paying over luggage.

You are allowed to check 2 pieces free of charge under 50lb for Domestic US flights and 70lb on some International flights, it depends on the airline. Check the airline that you are flying for their weight limits. Certain destinations in South America only allow one piece of checked luggage. Anything over the allowable 2 or weight limits are charged as Excess baggage. From 50lb-70lb is usually a charge of $25. 70-100lb is $50-100 depending on the airline and anything over 100lb is either not accepted or charged a rate per lb.

Contrary to the other persons comment, baggage can not be sent unaccompanied in the US unless it is being shipped as cargo.

no it does not cost- they allow you to take up to a certain weight- I think one plane I took they allowed 300lbs. for two of us- we had about three or four pieces of luggage, but really verify that with your carrier ( cause as I said , I am only guessing). If you go over that weight they do allow you to pay a charge for the extra weight. And bring a small bag with you cause may be able to carry on some of the stuff if it's over.

it truly is the airline's way of increasing its gross sales. airlines can charge expenditures in user-friendly terms to those with extra bags. This value often encourages the clientele to commute gentle, reducing the entire load an airplane has to hold, which in turn demands lesser gas intake. It the value of tickets is greater, there'll be lesser passengers which would be keen to pay the fare. i think that the allowed checked-in bags weight per individual is actual looking. upload: basically found out that an airline does can charge for checked bags. Please see internet site under.

if you are flying...you get to check in luggages for free as all the charges are already included in your air ticket...however if your luggages are over weight, they will charge you the over weight charges (depends on airport)... but if you are sending your luggages as unaccompanied luggages...they will also charge you for it...

The answers above are correct--- check with the airline to get the total number of bags you are allowed and their maximum sizes and weights--- but if you do curb-side check-in and give your bags to the skycap, it's customary to tip them a dollar or two.
