I got a JVC Radio (KD-S570) from a buddy and everything is finally hooked up. Now, sound won't come out of the speakers, but the radio is performing right and the sound is on. Its like that on CD and tuner, and you can turn the volume from 1- 50 and hear no change. HELP PLEASE!!!

I went over the speaker wiring and there all connected right. Everything is taped-over and straight. Another thing.. a 'M' flashes when I first turn it on tuner/ CD. Maybe this means Mute??? idk! There's no mute button...

Is their a remote controller. Some brands have a mute function on the controller and not on the unit itself.

Try checking the fuses for the speakers. When you hooked it up, did you pluck the battery first? It's usually recommended to do so to prevent the fuse from shorting out since there are some cars that still send power to the speakers even with the keys out of the ignition.

As for the head unit, usually it'll "un-mute" if you turn it off and back on again. For some models there WOULD be an M button (my boss' Panasonic has an M/L button, which would turn on loudness mode if you hold it down).

As positive as you are about the wiring, I would recommend you go over it again and again until you find the problem. If I read your question correctly, you have tape over the wires?? There is a GOOD possibility that a stray speaker wire is touching something metal behind the dash or at the speakers. If a speaker wire touches metal, this will cause a short in the car stereo's amplifier, and it will not play at all (speaker is shorted to ground).

Double check ALL connections.

You didn't hook it up right! That would be my guess. Check the speaker wiring and make sure they are connected correctly.
