I got all my kids off bottles before they were one. Just don't give him one. Use a cup with a spout, it's better for their teeth. Kids come to depend on their bottle especially at bed time, if he cries, don't back down or he will turn on the tears every time. This method will work, just give it time.

He doesn't need to stop having a bottle altogether once he is one. My 1 year old still has a bottle because he doesn't like drinking out of those baby cups. I started around 9/10 months to replace one bottle per day with a drink of milk or juice in a cup(he wouldn't always drink it but he got used to the idea. He now has one or 2 bottles a day and one or 2 cups. If your son has juice in abottle try replaceing that first, I mean replace the bottle with a cup and go like that. Gradually use less and less bottles. It might take a while depending on the child.

I have a 3 year old son who was very easy to wean from the bottle. Instead of giving him a bottle after each meal and before nap and bedtime we would give him a sippie cup of milk to drink. It took about a week and was a little difficult at first but stick with it.

I wouldn't wean him. I have 4 kids, and their bottles were their security blankets. I would give him the choice of Juice in a sippy, and keep only milk in the bottles. That way when he does use the sippy its like a nice treat. And I would offer the sippy while at meals. We usually end up with bottles only for bed (at this point its just water) and when they start sleeping thru the nite they gave that up realy easily. Hope this helps, but in my opinion there's no rush to get rid of the bottle before he's 2. He will do it well enough with simple prodding, later on when he understands. My youngest turns 2 in August, and we are down to just having a bottle at nite.

When he starts throwing his bottle, it's time to quit giving it to him. Simply give him a sippy cup. He will eventually not want anything BUT a sippy cup. And, brag on him for drinking out of a cup like a big boy. At bedtime, he shouldn't be drinking a bottle anyway. Children choke and strangle when left to nurse themselves to sleep with a bottle. Some children need to have their bottles longer than others. This is normal. Don't try to put your child in a "Box" by saying to yourself, "He must do this or that by such and such age." When you are picking the bottle up off the floor more often than you are putting food in his mouth at dinner time, then it's time to get rid of the bottle. Children usually start weaning themselves without knowing it. It's usually mommy who keeps putting it back in their mouths.

I have 3 kids. Dont wean him off. Introduce sippy cups and praise him and have fun with him being a BIG BOY and drinking out of it. No more bottles, its as simple as that. Sounds a little harsh, but that is the best way in my opinion.

If you are worried about taking his bottle away completely, why not use cups during the day and then he can have milk from his bottle at night? Do this for a few weeks and then buy him a 'special night time cup' which he can choose and then give up the bottle.
When we did this with our children we "gave" the bottles to the Easter Bunny and also Santa's Little helpers. I sounds odd but it did work.
Hope that this helps.

I started my child with sippy cups, then like a bottle at night. Once one hit I just took it away. They do cry... and thats given. You will just have to stay strong. Its only a couple of days. But with the sippy cup they are use to it shouldnt be a big problem. Nothing like if you were giving him bottles all the time then trying to take them away.

I would have started months ago. Once a baby is able to hold a feeding cup by himself is the time to start weaning.
