How do you "know" what goes on in Male population prisons? From TV? Like Prison Break?
I'm truly not trying to be a smart@$$ because I know you cant "know" unless you've actually been behind the wall of a prison, be it as an employee or inmate.
Prisoners work, They work out (no weights here) but its been said that the best weight resistance training is your own body weight. They watch TV, they get counted an ungodly amount of times a day, they get raped, beat up and yes sometimes even killed. They also look at every turn to beat the cops, and when they get out they are better criminals than before they went in.

Well, I have worked in a male prison and in a female prison.
I can't really go into details because people are really quick to report each other on here for minor, silly things.
Women fight a LOT, over each other, and over silly little things like which soap opera to watch on which TV.
And when women fight, the come out of their clothes so there is nothing to grab. And they scratch and pull hair mostly. But I have seen people have to be life-flighted out of there.
They also cheer at the football games LOUD, just like a bunch of men.
Women inmates are NASTY, for some reason, when they come to prison, they stop shaving their legs, armpits, etc. And they don't clean their living areas as well as the men do.
And when women are among each other, without a man, they turn to each other for love. And some of those women in there are more masculine then some of my ex-boyfriends, right down to the deep voice and facial hair. Some, you wouldn't know the difference until you make 'em do the old squat and cough.
And they refer to each other as "he", pass each other love letters called "kites" (and I have read some good ones). And when one finds another "he", I guess with a bigger tongue, they dump one for the other, which is where most of those fights come from.
It is called "bulldaggin'" when they do all those relationships.
I have heard of where some of the younger girls have gotten raped. Let's just say it either involved a broom handle, a bunch of soap pressed together for form a prostetic of sorts, or the older prisoners forcing themselves on the new girl or forcing her to do something to them.
women's prisons, or the facility where I worked, was off the chain.

Hmmm. I've seen alll sorts of movies about women in prison..........
Just kiddin, lose my smartas-- club membership if I don't take that one. My understanding is that much of the same stuff goes on in women's prison, as men's prison. The severity's quite a bit lower though. While there are rapes in female lockup, it's by nature, more an act of submission for the victim Showing who's boss. In lady's lockup there's more sense of community;comraderie. With the psychology of men and women being different, there's a reflection on this in lockup too.
You'll still get gangs, and assaults in female lockup, but not as much, or as severe as with the guys.

#1. You can expect to be told what to do, How to do it, When to do it and for how long for the next 4 1/2 yrs. You'll have to get up at certian times & go to bed at certin times. You can expect to be counted at least once every 2 hours. Food is terrible and most places don't allow you to smoke any more. You can also expect to have a few girlfriends. Whatever your nationality... You're expected to keep to your own. Prisons' are very racial. You don't have to be in a group. You're expected to hold your own. Don't let anybody walk over you. Don't be someone's punchin' bag. Stand up for yourself. Don't gamble. Don't 'borrow' anything. And leave the gays to themselves. It's better to do without than to deal with others that 'run the show'. Keep your mouth shut & your eyes open. Learn from the other peoplle you observe making the errors of prison life. Get a pen-pal or 2 and take everything as easy as possible.

ALOT OF LICKING.....lol
Exactly the same things that happen in a males prision. You have to take into consideration the prision itself! Whether its high security or low also.
Some women seem to be up the pecking order (they think they are big and tough and boss others) rape others. There are some killings although much less than in a males prision, as women are not as agressive as men.
They have tvs, beds, sometimes classes to teach them things, and counselling for rehabilitation depending on what they are in there for in the first place??

Some are lesbians and rape other women. Mostly the same things that happen in male prisons. They betray, kill, hurt, each other.

They end up tougher than when they went in there. Probably bullying, harrasment, etc. Probably heaps of swearing and taking the odd bit of drugs . I've never been to prison- I'VE BEEN A GOOD GIRL! But I just hear what I see on the news and TV.
