I think it is not only very "normal", but also very OK, so long as she is not a minor while she is dating him. Many girls 18 to 21 date older guys. I did, and still do. That's because so many guys in our age group are still imature, dorky, stupid, and broke. (hehe)! Also, the older guy appreciates her a lot more, and treats her really, really good. But the girl usually comes back eventually to date in her own generation when the guys her age decide to grow up.

Probably not normal. This girl may not be looking for a boyfriend, she might be looking for a dad. In all seriousness, most women who date extremely older men do so because they lack a positive relationship with their fathers and are seeking the male affirmation only a dad can provide. Some girls also just like to have a guy who will dote on them and buy them everything they want. We call them gold diggers where I come from. Anyway, I don't know how old you are, but if you are close to her age you might want to be asking what she was looking for in a relationship with a 45 year old man. A 19 year old girl and a 45 year old man have nothing in common.

if what you are asking is if it is normal for your girlfriend to have a 45 year old ex bf then I would say it's not exactly normal, thats like a 25 year difference, but if they were happy then who cares. They arent together anymore and maybe it was the problems with the age difference that caused them to break up. I don't think she is trying to ask for your understanding, just for you to tolerate her past so that the two of you can move on to the future.

Your girlfriend who is 19 years old just told you her former boyfriend was 45 years old? No, that is not normal for a 19 year old to date a 45 year old. I couldn't answer why she did it, or what her interest was in a 45 year old. Only she can answer that one.

She is really young to have dated a guy old enough to be her dad. But, she is an adult - so it was her decision. There is nothing wrong with her dating an older man, it was her choice and you shouldn't hold it against her. Obviously it didn't work out too well since you two are together now. Just forget it and move on - concentrate on your relationship not the past.

well atleast she was honest with you, goes to show she trusts you enough not to judge her by what has happened in her past. BUT, considering the huge age gap there may have been alot more going on that you would first expect. why don't you talk to her about it more, ask her some questions..i mean she opened the topic up by letting you know, you have every right to ask her some stuff, maybe that might make you feel better about it all.

maybe it took her 9 months to trust u to tell u that ****.. which was a big isue for her...
she was embarased... normaly.. wouldn't u?
if now she's 19.. maybe she was jusy 16 or 17 when that old SOB fooled her... she was too childish.. don't blame her...
just respect the fact that she trusted u .. and finaly revealed her secrets to u..
get over it.. and love her...
don't let her past affect u...
we all make mistakes... don't we?
i guess u probably have some secrets u'll never gonna tell no one... maybe stuff u won't even tell her...
just think of it
;)

love is not done
it happens at any point of life ,anywhere
and age is no barrier
if ur girlfriend loves u ,and u love her, then this is no big issue
she must have been afraid of losing u when u come to know the truth

I'm 19 and my boyfriend is 31. It's not about age, it's about the person, compatibility, and who makes you happy.
