Try www.craigslist.org and see if anyone else is going there.. If someone else is driving they might be glad to have someone to talk to and keep them awake.

Walking is probably going to be your cheapest form of transportation - and really great exercise too! But a Greyhound bus or Amtrack or a plane (something like Southwest) may be more practical.

Most likely flying - although, prices went up when gas went up. Driving isn't that expensive - you could make it there in 2 days if you really hauled (driving 12-15hrs a day).

fly. i tried all other transportations (besides driving myself) from sd to austin, tx. flying actually is cheaper than train or bus...not that i would take the bus haha
