To learn how to love Christ and serve him. This world would have been a perfect paradise. There would be no pain, no suffering, no saddness, no depression, no sickness et al. God made us perfect and gave us a perfect world. He made us so he would not be lonely. He first created man and then created woman to be man's companion. When evil came, due to Satan turning against God (The fallen angel), it changed life. Due to sin, man was now stricken with pain, suffering, sickness etc. God then gave all mankind free will to choose their own path. He later sent Christ, his only son, to save us from our sins. So then our mission became that which what we must do to follow God's path for our life. It became neccessary for us to resist the Devil and his ways. It is a daily struggle for all of us. I sort of like to look at life as a spiritual war. We are all in this war. We all join Gods Army or Satans Army. If we are a soldier for Christ we stand behind him. He is our leader. We avoid the enemy. WE are wise to the traps and landmines the evil ones set before us. We walk carefully through life to avoid Satans folly. At the same time Christ wants us to learn how to love one another. It is also our responsibility once we have come to Christ to minister to others, by words and actions. It is our duty to live accordingly to Gods word. WE must come to know Jesus personally. We should live our life so that at the end when God judges us, he will say, welcome home, Job well done! If we walk God's path, we will be drawn to many of his people. We will find true bothers and sisters in Christ. I have been blessed to find many great people in my journey of walking in faith.

A good answer from Jenx. Having assurance of an eternal, perfect, trouble-free future with God doesn't detract from enjoyment of this life. In fact, knowing the creator makes for an even greater sense of wonder at all that is good. There is also much that is bad in the world and we all meet some of this at times. The Christian has the experience that the relationship with Jesus is not for after death but starts now! Present troubles do not have to be faced alone. You might say that a Christian has the best of both worlds!

Each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this divinity within, by controlling nature, external and internal. Do this either by work, or worship, or psychic control, or philosophy - by one, or more, or all of these - and be free. This is the whole of religion. Doctrines, or dogmas, or rituals, or books, or temples, or forms, are but secondary details.

bascially hinduism says that we have all the power in the universe and beyond, that we are infinite..and immortal , omnipresent....

the goal of life is to manifest this power,to feel one with the universe...to realise that there is no life no death, that we are eternal...infinite, the ever pure..

...this is the question of the day...I think that we are here to learn how to relate to each other harmoniously, despite our different colors, religions, economic levels, and so on. Life is like a bowl of Jell-O! Nothing is static; it is constantly moving. And so we must be flexible to move and change for the highest good (or not, some people choose this by apathy or 'checking out.') We are also in wonderful instruments that are so finely tuned to have chemical responses around the person of our dreams...it's mind boggling at times. We are here for many reasons, and that is part of the great mystery. Discovering who we are and who our friends and family are is part of the surprise...and wonder of all that is.

Um I don't really know exactly what God wants for us but I
think that we were put here to love our parents and our siblings.
Not to get personal or anything but I have depression and I ask
myself the same question but after spending alot of time just
sitting around being sad all the time I realized that every one
is in this world doesen't have much without family or some
kind of companion.I'm not sure if my answer is what you're looking for but in my opinion I just think that we were put here
and given life to expierience love and friendship.

Because God does not wish that any should parish.

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, let not this one thing be hidden from you, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness, but is long-suffering toward us, not purposing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Why are we living? I don't honestly know. And I won't pretend to. The purpose of life? To live. To succeed. To make your own survival worth surviving. To send your DNA on to the next generation and o make life for the next generation worth living.

Seriously, it is a well thought out preparation for something else of vast importance with a time-span beyond your present comprehension--but not beyond your ultimate comprehension! Every day you are preparing yourself. Keep an open mind.

the timeless question, that only the almighty can answer, but won't reveal. it's as though we have to figure it out for ourselves. but many moons have past and we still ask. perhaps we should put our heads together and maybe we could figure it out. it does seem as if life and living, our mere existance, is to try and avoid pain and suffering, work, work, work. all for just a spot of happiness. i understand what you're asking. but the question is still too deep to answer.

this probably sounds roundabout, but the purpose of living in this world is finding purpose/meaning in living in this world. it could be the love of your life, your kids, helping people, your spiritual beliefs, a hobby...whatever makes you happy.
