Let me tell you to begin with that I'm not a believer OR an atheist, and I don't think I'm changing that in the near future, or possibly ever. Don't waste your time threatening me with hell, because I'm not scared of that. My question is only: what practical difference would it make if we knew for certain that there is a God or there isn't? Please don't tell me why I should or shouldn't believe in God, but why I should even care about finding an answer to this question, even from an atheist's point of view, to come to the conclusion that the answer is no.
BTW, quotes from the Bible, without your personal input will be ignored, and disrespectful answers will be reported.

Geniusflightnurse, your arguments are valid only if you decide IN ADVANCE that there is a God, but they don't count if you haven't made up your mind yet, or if you think God doesn't exist.

Welcome to Ignosticism (The view that the question of the existence of God is meaningless because it has no verifiable (or testable) consequences and should therefore be ignored.)

Practically, if you knew for certain God exists, then you would know that your eternal soul is in fact on the line. I can't imagine anything more practical than that with respect to this temporal life on earth. You'd know for certain that you really do need to consider the afterlife.
On the other hand, if you knew for certain that God does not exist, then you wouldn't have to bother asking questions like this. You could live your life as you saw fit with no regard for anything else. You could be completely hedonistic and not care what anyone thought because you and everyone else are nothing more than primordial slime.
Yeah. Pretty much nothing more practical than the question of God's existence. And if you're not afrid of hell, then you probably don't understand what it is.

I myself have been raised Roman Catholic, and I personally do not beleive in the god of the christians/muslims/jews.
I am currently: agnostic.
I do believe in A god.. but not the ones we currently have. I am very well educated in Christianity and Catholicism
So, why should you care.
You dont have to.. I cant really give you a reason.
I care because it facinates me.
the history of Man kind coming down to where, we as humans make up theoretical characters to explain the unexplained.
practical diffrences.. Well.. it could make you a better person, or to make this life something to live for.. rather than just roaming around worthlessly doing what everyone else does, making ourselves useless because we are going to die and nothing is going to happen anyways.
Good luck with your search for the truth, or you may have already found it.

By virtue of you asking this question - I believe you're questioning your own beliefs. You're likely looking for that "thing" that is missing in your life. Deep down, it sounds like you know that God exists and you're desperately hoping that someone can say just the right thing to convince you.
No one can tell you why to care. That's a personal decision. I can tell you why *I* care and maybe you'll find something there to help. I care because there is a God who loved me SO much that he gave His only Son as a sacrifice to save my life. Anyone who loves me that much deserves my attention.
I hope the Spirit leads the right person to you to share that love.

Well, just following simple guidelines, such as the ten commandants is not wrong. The Bible is filled with guides to this world. I mean, if you are not good then you are bad. Why not add something to believe in, such as God; that way, if it is true in the end, you will benefit from it. If it is not true, then you lose nothing because you practiced good deeds your entire life.

Even If you don't care and don't want to believe at all, don't be an ignorant, try to understand every religions existing, by seeking knowledge, because religion is a way of living may be you choose one one day, just for the way is nice to live.

Wow, someone I agree with. That is a first.
God is irrelevant.
A benevolent deity would not demand to be worshiped. The desire for praise is too self-centered. He would help all those truly in need whether or not they asked for help or even knew he existed.
If God does desire to be worshiped and helps only those who do so, then he is evil and should be ignored.

This is my beliefs...According to the Bible, God made everything...Why did He do this? Because of His love for us...Another thing he did out of love, He gave us His Only Be-Gotten Perfect Son to die for our sins.. He did not have to do that, but He did...He could have killed man off after Adam and Eve chose to listen to the snake in the Garden of Eden, but he didnt...He is giving man another chance to get to know so we could someday have a perfect life

We should stop asking about "God", and restore the questions "God" overwrote, just because they're interesting.
Where did the universe really come from?
What is the relationship between the mind and the body?
Etc.
