Iove animals too, but people do hunt,or do nature hikes, thats why I said..etc...and so far no one has said anything about killing a bear, which one can see is not necesary in order to tell a good bear encounter story.

i was having a great day fishing for coho in a river on the queen charlotte islands. we had caught and released more than our fair share and we were taking a beer break. the fellow just up-stream from us hooked and landed a really nice one. he got himself rigged up and turned to cast when a very large black bear came running out of the bush, grabbed his fish and took off. we sat there with our mouths hanging open and watched the fellow continue to fish with not a clue. the bear had taken the fish from less than 5 feet away from him. it took him more than 15 minutes to figure out that his fish was missing, then when he did he turned and looked at us as if we were the guilty parties. we finally had to show him the bear tracks in the sand.

Actually I wasnt hunting bears. I was hunting Whitetails in western michigan one morning. I couldnt believe I hadn't seen any thing when all the sudden I heard a bunch of noise from the west. It was duruing the rut so i was hoping that a buck was chasing some does. Well the nextthing I see is a sow and 3 cubs runnuing right for my tree. I remained motionless and all 4 came to the base and started climbing me tree. one cub satright next to me , it was pretty exciting. Another time was trout fishing in a small remote beaver damn and I slipped in and broke my leg. I was on my way out of the woods ( 4 hour trek) when I realized I was being followed by a small (150 lb) bear. I had to fight shock, but I did make it out after several yelling matches at the bear...

I was driving along U.S. 61 along the Mississippi river when a big truck hit the brakes in front of me at a distance. As I started to pass slowly - it was a two lane highway then- I had to stop as the driver raced across the road in front of my car. I stopped and asked what the problem was. He said that there was a Rottweiler under his truck. We both went to shine our flashlights under the front of his truck, and the most hideous noise hit us like it was solid. I swear the truck moved. When we calmed down, inside my car about 1/4 mile away now, we went back to the truck where he used his C.B. to call the local highway patrol. They didn't know what to make of it either, but the wildlife conservation officer finally got a tranquilizer dart gun. I was told the little black bear was released along the river bank very near the site of his near demise. The truck hit the bear at about 10:30 p.m., I got home, just 30 miles away at about 9:00 a.m. That's the quickie version. I don't hunt bears. Sorry.

ok,ok I was camping in a tent with my family in Colorado, kinda roughing it. We were sitting around the fire talking and eating marsh mellows(yummy). And we heard some funny noises in the bush, so being the moron at I am I walked in to the bush and there was a bear charging Right at me!! So i ran back in to camp the the bear in hot pursuit and my dad(a professional wrestler) saw the bear and wrestled it to the ground which was kinda weird but he did that and held it into a pin unless authorities arrived and took care of it.

(sorry not a hunter but still a weird encounter)

Hunters are murderers with a liscense. If you must kill something sign up with the military. At least you'd be defending your country, and not taking an innocent life. How would you like to lose your mother to someone with a gun. That is just heart breaking!

i wonder if nicole thinks her steak or turky dinner died of natural causes? where i live on a 20 mile section of road 150 -200 deer are killed every year along with 4 different people who hit one of them last year alone.
