If you drop a television or monitor that has been unplugged into a body of water, will it depolarize the diodes that hold electricity after it has been long unplugged?

Oops, I said diode, I meant the capacitors CRT's!

It may discharge the HV at the CRT anode, but in all likelihood, all it will do is get wet. But you best make sure it's dry before using it.

There is no such thing as "depolarizing" diodes. Water wouldn't (unless salt water) even effect a diode. Nor do diodes hold electricity once the power is off. The only things in a TV that can "hold electricity" once the power is turned off are the CRT it's self and any battery that may be there, and all the capacitors, which are really batteries in their own right. The water would short them all out on contact any way.

hello,

i'm afraid it won't depolarize the diodes. As far as i know, the only way to depolarize it to send in higher current and wear it off. Eventually, your diode will die.

*Please becareful when handling with electrical applications. And always use one hand instead of two hands.*

Any water except 100% pure distilled water can cause connections to corrode and make the TV non-functional. It depends on how long the TV was exposed to water.

no...the capacitors will not depolarize , they will discharge
