It could be that the got interested in their job because of their own vision problem, but that still doesnt explain why they were glasses. They could wear contacts (which is much better and more advanced than simple glasses). but they dont. Most of them wear glasses. why?

They live by example. It depends sometimes on their eyesight. If they need glasses to see afar off and reading too they can't wear contacts because they don't make them like that. They need glasses with bifocals especially when they become presbiopic (2nd sight) around 40. They can see good afar off but at near their vision is bad- bifocal time. Contacts are only for distance vision, not near.

This question is akin to asking "Why are most men stupid?" Both questions have a limited perspective and show a non-objective bias on the part of the "asker".. So to answer your question I would have to say that the optomotrists that I have had contact with do not wear glasses and it would be unfair and illogical to lump them with your observation (question).

When people hit their 40's and up your eyes start to weaken....most optometrists are in this age catigory therefore you see them in glasses. I had lasor surgery done when I was 40 and completely fixed my distance vision...now I just wear glasses when I'm tired and need to read. I used to wear contacts and they are not always better for some people. With glasses you can take them off and put them on as needed....can't with contacts.

You answered your own question. It is a personal preference. Remember doctors are business men/women too and they would always...always advise you for going one level up. This means more spending at their clinics. When i wore contacts they told me to go for LASIK, which i refused. I did not have good experience with contacts because the doctor prescribed me hard lenses and they were a real pain. Couldn't wash face with them. Could not sleep with them. So decide diligently. I think the soft lenses are better and less cumbersome. You can give them a try. Unless you try you would not know.
