It is good I think to read about other beliefs so you know how to defend your faith against them. How are you to argue against someone else's belief if you know nothing about it. However, it takes a very strong heart and mind to do this without falling into a trap. You have to make sure that you are not letting yourself be sucked in and swayed by it. If you are, then I would consider pausing and praying before you continue.

Sin does not exist beyond ones mind. To appreciate the brighter side of the Truth there is nothing wrong in knowing what is falsehood, so that we can praise the Truth with more commitment. But reading 'Da Vinci Code' makes a person who has sound knowledge of the Bible, question whether all these days hitherto he was wandering in wilderness. It does not prove the strength of Brown's arguments, but exposes the weak foundation on which the Christian faith is based.

It's not a sin.
The person who wrote it is more in sin than you.
If you believe it and worship the da vinci code then it's a sin.
what the da vinci code really is, is make believe, the figmant of someone's imagination.

No, it is never a sin to educate yourself, unless after you read the book you began to blaspheme, which is the sin most preachers are referring to when they talk about the DA Vinci Code

not unless you believe it. It's fiction...the author calls it a thriller.
Opus Dei is a heinous organization. The "uproar" over the Da Vinci Code is due, in no small part, to the "catholic" efforts to repaint that organization as kind and benevolent.
Really want an eye opener about Opus Dei???

The fact you have a sense of guilt tells me that you believe in your heart that it is wrong, yet you still do it. A sin is defined as knowingly doing something that you know is wrong, based on your desire. If you have guilt, that is good. Our conscience guides us to what is good and steers us from wrong. If you ignore guilt, it may go away, but that is not necessarily a good thing. If we do not feel guilty, when we have done something wrong, then we have lost our soul. I do not think reading the book makes you evil or wrong, but if you do not have a strong belief in Christ then it may lead you away. If you read this book and realize as you read it, how wrong it is, and then you use it to enable you to defend God to those who read it and believe it, then you have used it for the good of Christ. That is what it is all about. Doing the right things, for the right reasons, for the best results as Christ would have us to do. Search your soul. Never go against yourself or your beliefs. I think you have a good soul...I am sure you will make the best choice that is good and right for you! Keep the faith!

Yes! Dan Brown is the devil, and The Da Vinci code is an abomination to God! You will burn in hell for reading it! Free-thinking and open-mindedness are sins!

It is not a sin to read that fiction book. There are so many false statements on that book that it irritates me. I have heard many Christians to say that it is a good beach book, well written fiction. I saw the movie. Not bad movie, but do not take the movie or the book as a source of facts.

It depends what you take from it and what your beliefs are, a lot of people read the book believing it is all fiction, but while reading it I read textbooks alongside it, and found a lot of the information to be accurate, for example, the roles of the knight's Templar, and the information on the Vatican. The Mary Magdalene information, is just a legend, but a lot of people do choose to believe it.
