I am a preschool teacher who includes drama/theater in my curriculum on a regular basis. One thing we do every year is focus on the book , "Where the Wild Things Are." by Maurice Sendak...........we use different things from home to make masks and the costumes are pajamas which most every child has. The children have wonderful ideas on how to make different props for the play including a cardboard box boat.

There are so many books that you can act out.....

Last year in my class I designated a stage area where the chldren used karaoke machines to sing songs and wrote, cast and directed their own simple plays!

The key is to allow each child to participate at the level that they are comfortable with.........as they become more and more comfortable they will take on more roles.

Thats too young to ask a 5-6 year old to do a music english performance. Too much pressure also.
Usually, simple things like getting up, eating, sleeping, brushing teeth, changing clothes is a big task for that age. The information needs to be repeated for about a couple of months with parents help.
Dont apply piano class to preschool, and expect a concerto or movie director. Especially subjects that require older people's fun to job physical activity, or harder brain work.
