You must understand that BECOMING a NUN takes a lot of courage and dedication for one to leave behind the outside world that they came from, and to endure the challenge of the VOWS that they choose to take --depending on which Convent or Order they join. Some of their vows include CHASTITY, OBEDIENCE, POVERTY, SERVITUDE, SILENCE, MISSIONARY WORK, etc. among others.
Certain Orders of Nuns are charged with the responsibility of running parochial schools for primary and secondary levels of education, and for sure many of them find it quite a challenging and difficult task to instill the same DISCIPLINE and OBEDIENCE that they have been used to in their convents. Hence, most nuns --Sisters and Mother Superiors-- are quite notorious for their strictness and even corporal punishments on the students.
So, don't feel left out since many have undergone the same type of treatment that you have from some of them...
Peace be with you!

I have heard of many people who attended Catholic Schools. I have many horrible horror stories of how the Nuns treat the children. One lady wrote a book about her experiences, she never had it published but she let everyone who got to know her, read it. She told about how they made her take scalding hot showers and then they would turn the water ice cold. They would hit the backs of her hands with a large metal spoon, if she placed her arms on the table while eating. They did many horrible things. I am sure they are not all bad, but it seems that I hear more despicable stories than I do divine stories. I believe that religion does not make the person a saint...it is a personal, honest, genuine, God loving relationship that enables us to be good. I am sure you did not deserve the treatment you received. No-one ever deserves abuse. I am glad you have a good relationship with Christ now and that you placed the blame where it lies. Best of peace and happiness in your journey through life with Christ.

Nuns in parochial schools aren't really charitable to anyone, that I know of. My wife didn't like the nuns at her Catholic school either. Judge the tree (Catholicism) by it's fruits.

nuns are evil. Think how pissed off you'd be if you didn't get to have sex or have your own money for like a million years.
nuns aren't all of your faith, so don't blame it on them lol.
I had a few nice nuns in high school, I think it depends on what order they belong to.

You know. I have been there and done that and there are two sides to this story.
Nuns are people. This might come as a surprise to you, but they get hungry, tired, short of patience, angry and frustrated like everyone else. To top it off, they have graduate degrees, most of them, but they make less than $5,000 a year.
You expect nuns to be perfect. After all, they are married to Christ, for God sake, so they must be perfect, right?
They aren't.
They get osteoarthritis just like truck drivers do, they have siblings who are just as bratty as your siblings. Their brothers and sisters get married, divorced, their parents get sick and die just like everyone else.
I actually think that most nuns don't dislike anyone. I think they feel that plastic kids are a pain, and goodie two shoes kids are too goodie two shoes, and I always thought nuns didn't like me, either. Until I found out that they had osteoarthritis and diabetes and they were three days behind grading final exams.
This will pass. I didn't think I could ever get a nun to like me until I remembered why they shouldn't.
It happened one summer night when we were on retreat. It was a really cool retreat house with private rooms. Most of us kids were teenagers and were at least 200 miles from home. We knocked on Sister Gemma's door at 2 a.m. just to find out when she answered the door if she slept with her veil on.
She didn't.
The next night was Saturday night and we knew there was a tavern down the street. We knew it was pushing our luck, but we went down there and ordered a glass of wine, each of us. Me and Rosie Jennings. We got caught.
Since we lived 200 miles away from the retreat house and since the retreat house was closer to the tavern than our parents, the police took us home to the retreat house and gave us over to Sister Gemma. She wasn't wearing her veil when the police arrived, either.
To make a long story short, nuns are people.
And kids are kids.
And, as luck would have it, with seven sisters, it would just be my luck that one of the sisters would be named Sister Anne. She is a Providence nun in St. Louis, Missouri.

Most nuns dislike people, because they don't have close contact with people, no sex, and it makes them bitter.
